If nothing else, I like both guys' approach to the media so far. Very down to earth, knowledgeable, humble and hungry. We'll see how it pans out but I like the early indications.
What was he suppose to say,he cant come out and say its over for him yet Bowles: We think Geno is a peice of shit Mac:I agree with Todd Geno is a peice of shit
It's not like they could've said anything else. As of right now Geno is the only one with a roster spot next year. Vick's most likely a goner and I think by now we all understand Simms is a borderline 3 or 4 QB. I'll be interested to see what they say after free agency and/or the draft.
Bowles was on with Carton today,,,good stuff , I thought he did ok . Boomer was not there instead Chris Simms was on with Carton and he I'd well also but I stray,,,,,Craig told Bowles what " the jets need " 2 cornerbacks because our cornerbacks stunk, a safety and we need a QB because Geno is not it,,,,,,Carton suggested we go pursue Peyton Manning ,,,,,,,after giggles Bowles said sounds good ,,,,,thought he handled himself well with all the questions
This is likely to take a couple years to fully fix so I hope people are patient. Tanny left the team thin after using too many picks to trade up and Idzik and company fell flat on their drafts overall so the team is a wreck. The only grace at the moment is a lot of salary cap. But you won't fix what's wrong with this team by throwing money at a couple big name free agents. It's going to take a couple of good drafts to rebuild the depth on this team.
I've heard two interviews with Bowles so far and I fell asleep from boredom during both of them. Nearly crashed my car this morning while he was on Boomer and Carton.
I believe Bowles will try and get Matt Moore. They have a history together and he will be one of the more highly sought after FA QB's this year. No way the fins can afford to keep him this year. I think he's much better than Vick.
I heard three and everyone keeps making a big deal about the "Jersey" guy factor with both of them. Why do I feel like its not an accident that Woody hired a gm and a coach that are from Jersey
While I certainly blame Geno for bad decision making, I have faith in his talent. I would like people to realize that Marty's play calling in the red zone was horrible this past year. As hard of a time as he has had putting together consistent performances, Geno has shown flashes of brilliance. I am excited to see what Gailey will do with him.
How do we know what the dynamics here were? Put another way: between John idzik and Rex Ryan one of those guys was well known for stubbornly sticking with his starting QB through whatever might come, even when there were other options, albeit not good ones, on the roster. If you presented this to me as a blank slate, knowing what we know about the teams Idzik was on before the Jets and what Rex's preferences were in terms of staying with a failing QB I'd have said it was a no-brainer that Rex ignored the vet backup until he had no other choice when Geno threw the 3 picks in the 1st against the Bills. Does it make more sense to think that Idzik somehow ordered him to keep Geno on the field at all costs? Particularly given that we have no evidence, even rumored, that this was the case? Geno missed a team meeting during the horrible stretch and didn't get benched. If Rex wanted him on the bench that was a golden opportunity to put him there without any repercussions from the rest of the organization. He chose to run Geno out there anyway and we got massacred 31-0. I have to say, the non-move to Vick early in the season has Rex's fingerprints all over it. I think the conflict was between Rex and Marty Mornhinweg not between Idzik and either of the other guys. I think Mornhinweg knew that he was taking the fall for Geno's inept play and really would have preferred Vick earlier than we saw him.
They indicated they will be evaluating tapes all this week. Have no fear, they will have one fact in their heads after it is over: Geno sucks He is as dumb as a paper clip
