Mangini went on to state that this unarmed invasion would be so successful and would go so far, enabling each player on the team to have their own country named after them, in Europe and beyond.
No, this is a coach trying to fire up his team, why is this such a big joke, why do they think they care what everybody else thinks, as long as they think they have the talent and they can capitalize on gameday, why not tell them that?
That kind of a comment is a joke right now when one considers the present state of this defense- who make even 2nd or 3rd-rate QB's look good.... The Jets D will not carry this team to the SB- not this year.
I don't think Mangini would BS the players. He's been around championship teams so he knows what one looks like if he says the Jets are a Super Bowl caliber team I believe him. Saban sure as hell isn't telling his team they're a Super Bowl team.:rofl:
Koz - you miss the point! How good would that d be if they believed that every other team has more talent and was better then they are? They would not only suck they would fold and hide behind the thought "they beat us because they are just better than we are". Part of the coaches job is to instill belief "that they are as good or better than anyone" in their players. So Mangini is just doing his job. Personally I think that this is a better motivating tool then "win one for the gipper (Herm)" that Herm used!
Hey don't get me wrong- I think it's great that he's telling them this. I just don't think its very accurate. Believe you me, whatever gets these players pumped and ready for the next game I certainly support.
How can Vilma talk about that? I know Mangini said it but still. Did Vilma twist his words? Mangini: "We have a Super Bowl Caliber special teams, Playoff Caliber offense and BCS Caliber defense."
I think he is trying to pump his team up. Listen, we you be inspired if your coach just hung his head down and said, "Guys we stink. We have absolutely no chance of winning anything. Why should we even play our games? Let's just pack up and go on a cruise together."
