Updated: Oct. 17, 2006, 4:15 PM ET QB rankings: Week 6 By Gary Horton / Scouts Inc. So who's the best QB in the NFL right now? Who's the worst? And who's in between? Scouts Inc.'s Gary Horton ranks all the QBs 1-32. ~ ~ ~ 21. Chad Pennington - Jets : Too many third-and-long situations led to "must" throws, and while his arm strength is still suspect, he throws a very catchable ball and hooked up all day with WR Laveranues Coles in the win over Miami . > http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2629418
This is the biggest bullshit article i have ever read. I would not put the following in front of chad like this idiot did: Eli Favre Vick Alex Smith Johnson Bledsoe Carr Stupid article
yeah that guy is freebasing. penny isnt top 5, but hes gotta be top 10, at least if were talking this yr alone.
I try very hard to ignore these things, and certainly wouldn't bother commenting on them, but if this is supposed to be based on this year only, anyone who would put Favre, Smith, Johnson, Bledsoe, or Carr ahead of Pennington has got to be insane. Again based on this year, you could make the same argument about Roethlisberger and Palmer. Vick is the eternal special case - he is a joke at throwing the ball, but he brings other things to the table - and I think you could certainly make a case for Eli.
The players seem to be ranked from a fantasy football perspective, not a what-QB-is-better-overall one.
well when he lables it "fantasy studs" or "fantasy QB's by the numbers" then i might agree with him, but i really wouldnt but whatever
Chad is in the top 5 QB's. Maybe the top 2. Remember that ANY QB can look good or bad depending on what's happening in front of him on any given Sunday. When Chad has a good game plan and the line is protecting at least "average", then Chad is in the top 2 behind Manning Sr. No one in the NFL throws a more catchable ball, to the RIGHT reciever, more consistantly than Chad. No one.
Chad's thrid down comp % is tops in the NFL. Having said that, he's in the upper third, but let's not get too carried away....
that doesn't prove him wrong in any way... he said that they've had a lot of 3rd and long must throw situations, not that he hasn't performed on 3rd down. Also that doesn't have the most important stat about third downs.. how many were converted, if you complete 60% on 3rd downs but 50% of those are short of 1st down yardage it is worse than 40% completion percentage, with 90% conversion rate in those 40%.
