While the logic may be correct Colon is not the guy to say it. There's a good chance he's not on the opening day roster.

The greatest thing in the world for Jets fans would be for Geno to step up to the plate and be a real quarterback and be a plus not a minus for this team. But he was rated 32nd out of 32 NFL starting Qbs. You can't get much worse than that.

    Much worse you sure?
Willie better be right about the ol because if they don't step up then Geno won't get a chance to crash the porsche as he will never get out of neutral. In fact reverse will be his most used gear all year

No problem with what colon said or that he said it. he has been a straight shooter since he been here. I wouldn't expect that to change because he is fighting for a roster spot. He still has a good pulse of the locker room.
    and he is spot on.

Good luck and welcome. It's tough Smith was thrown into a sink or swim situation. He sunk more than he swam so it will most likely be time to cut the line. JMO

Colon was also a contributor to Geno's poor play... He had drive killing penalties. I honestly don't know why players spew this stuff to the media. I can't imagine seeing him the next day in the lockers. I'm pretty sure Geno knows he has to play better.

Truths be told...he spoke the truth. Compared to last year and in 2013, Geno is driving a Porsche. I actually like the fact that a guy, who has faults of his own and may not make the team, spoke up. That's just who Willie Colon is. Does That make him wrong , no. A hypocrite maybe, but not wrong in his assessment.

I don't want to see the sideline antics of Brandon Marshall if Geno isn't on his game. We will know in the 1st four games of the regular season if Geno is truly ready, or just another in a long line of "potential" back up quarterbacks this franchise has endured since Penny.

Fitz may not be ready physically and no way do we want to see Petty take a snap this year (even if he "looks good"). That's why Chan said what he did IMO. Geno is the guy for 4 weeks... Will he crash it before that?

Compared to the last two years agent traded up from a 1862 beat up station wagon to a 2032 BMW. I completely agree with what he said but I still don't think he should be the one talking. Like the posts above said its not even that a guy who won't make the roster spoke up but also a guy who caused just as much if not more headaches than Geno has. Its not what us fans think that matters its those guys in the locker room and anyone who's been around the game knows that one of the worst guys on the team shouldn't be speaking out about other players.

Now he's pissed that some people might think he's not good enough anymore.

For somebody who likes to talk that much he really is sensitive when others comment on him. And his play last year certainly doesn't help his case. And yes, even the front office noticed it, that's why he's gotten a 1 year, veteran minimum deal. I'm not sure if he's just trying to get a post NFL career going as an announcer or something with all this talking, like Ray Lewis or Michael Strahan, but he should really focus on playing to make sure he still has a job this year. Talking about how everybody needs to do this and that in the media doesn't help us. He's taking this leadership thing a little too serious.

    Colon spot on here.
guy has the respect and the pulse of the locker room, and there is generally purpose behind what he's saying.
i've got no problem with it at all.

it's up to Geno to answer the call, and earn the confidence of his teammates.
he better take this seriously, as it's now or never.

You know, that's an insult to the mutt cutt truck; people actually want and need dog hair cuts. Nobody wanted or needed some of the garbage the Jets were trotting out there for our viewing "pleasure". Hell, the way they played it could be that some of our players were fictional as well.

Since when has such a below average QB, been given this many chances? Smith has never had to earn anything, and when a child is given everything, they don't respect or appreciate it as they should. They take it for granted.

How can a team respect him, knowing he has been hand fed every opportunity and shown nothing to warrant the time and money put into him?

Geno has a lot more help to make him successful this season what with Gailey's offense being more geared to what Geno did in college along with having better weapons at his disposal.
I'm optimistic about what we will see from Geno , let's hope the light goes on in his head and he's able to read defenses and make better decisions.

Loudness does not equal leadership, go with Rex where you can talk your big game Mon-sat and not back it up on the field.
