i actually agree. i know its "unneccessary" and we need alot more help on offense, but its jsut so f'ing hard to pass up a player like hawk. i mean, if we stay in the 4-3 im fine with baarton/vilma/hobson, but hawk be be an improvement over hobson. and if we switch to the 3-4 like rumor has it, then hawk would be a great draft pick. but.....i doubt we will do that i think we may trade down the #4 for like a first and second round pick. that way we have 2 first rounders and 2 second rounders, allowing us to fill more holes......tackle, rb, qb (maybe croyle in round 2), center/gaurd
I wouldn't take it. I would trade Abe and this year's first for their first this year and next year, but I wouldn't give up an extra pick to unload him.
Is there anything better than players for picks trades? Methinks no. I love the draft. This is such a good trade.
thats a horrible deal, abe alone is worth a first, at least lets get something of theirs, a 3rd and a first round-type caliber player is a steal for the lions. Giving up a first for the lions is nothing new to them. You know they'll just waste it on Chad jackson
I misread the rumor and thought we'd be getting their #9 and a 3rd rounder for Abe. We're not, we're getting their #9 and giving up Abe and our 3rd rounder, which is a pretty high pick. So no, on second thought, no way. That 3rd round pick is a damned good pick. We shouldn't have to give up Abe and much else for their #9. Now, if you're talking throwing in the #4 we got from KC for Herm, then we might have a deal.
Huh? Are you crazy? A 3rd rounder + a guy who does not want to be here and is set to make $8 million+ vs. 9th pick overall is stealing!!!! F'ing Stealing.
:drunk: You must have picked the wrong week to quit drinking. This is win win man! Abe is gone, and the whole league knows this. If we can pull the 9th pick in the draft for him from Millen's arsh, you would have to be either drunk, stoned, or both not to do it.
Exactly. If we can get mcginest for the min plus incentives that would solve our LB/DE problems. on runing downs Thomas could play end and Mcginest cou line up at OLB. On passing plays WM could line up at DE and Brown could come in for coverage. I would love to get Hawk as much as anyone but OL with Brick at #4 and RB with White at #9 would be much better for use as an organization. If we do this trade and Hawk is their at #9 maybe but I doubt that he will be their.
I realize that Millen isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. But I just can't for the life of me see him pulling off such a rediculous trade, sorry. So I think I'll remain pessimistic until such time as the trade is officially announced by the teams themselves. In which case I'll be jumping up and down and laughing like the rest of you.
Why is it so hard to believe Detroit would do this? They're not going to get Mario Williams so they get the next best available pass rusher plus a 3rd round pick. Makes sense for them too.
