Jets | Mawae will apparently refuse pay cut
    Fri, 17 Feb 2006 05:27:31 -0800

Ken Berger, of Newsday, reports New York Jets OC Kevin Mawae, coming off surgery to repair a torn left triceps, apparently will refuse to take a pay cut and will ask the Jets to release him if they can't handle his projected $4.5 million cap figure.

Huh? Take a pay cut or get out. ANYBODY who isn't on board with the direction this team is moving should get their walking papers..Yesterday.

    Mawae...Pennington,Martin..WHOEVER. They are all overpaid.

If he's not going to take a pay cut, then we mine as well part ways with him, too. Let's not screw around here and be cute about this, we need to totally reconstruct this roster. If people aren't going to take massive pay cuts, or reduce their roles in a big way, then we have to move on. Simple as that.

Mawae is one of the few players on this team worth their paycheck. Anybody who thinks he is easily replaced is dreaming.

I don't want to see Mawae go, but it might be the best for our rebuilding, considering we are 20 million over the cap.

He's the team's offensive leader, IMO. I'd hate to see him go.

As long as the Jets don't cut Vilma, I'm good.

I agree! If we lose him, our Oline is effed.

It's already eff'd. Time to move on and let Mawae get his shot at a ring somewhere's else before its too late. If you're really a Mawae fan, let him go.

What happens to us next season? We don't have a replacement center on the roster. We're going to be the Texans next season without an Oline. I've sat through one 1-15 season, I don't want to see another one.

Sometimes pardner, you have to take a few steps backwards to go forward. We were at best, treading water and going nowhere fast with overpriced, aged vets.

Don't fear the 1-15 season IF it happens. It's all part of the rebuilding process. Look ahead a few years. The real upside isn't gonna happen until at least 2008. Just be patient man. Its been 37 years already. We can wait a few more. We're Jet Fans!!
