fitz was pretty terrible today, but that last pick was more on marshall, hit him in the hands. gotta make that play. the int before that was on fitz, but it was also a tipped ball. we need to get some semblance of a running game going. fitz isnt going to beat you with the pass without decker and no run game. if you read the pregame threads every poster here listed sproles as a concern on special teams
- Too much high after last week's win caused a slow start. - Gailey was very very very conservative in his play calling. Lots of 3 and outs in the first half. - Defense threw a shutout in second half once again. Love the in game defensive adjustments. - Fitz showed why he is a journeyman. Not a world beater but when we have Geno as the best alternative, no harm in giving him more chance. - Eagles came to play for their season. We couldn't match their motivation and intensity and it showed. - This was just one of those games and I am not too worried. - Next week is a crucial division game if we want to at least grab a wild card spot. Can't really lay an egg in London.
before he even fielded the punt i turned to my buddy and said "touchdown". it made no sense at the time, let alone in hindisght. sproles was pretty much the only guy on their team we had to worry about. to me someone needs to be fired over allowing that to happen. there is no excuse for it, and its going to piss me off all week. the ball should have landed in the 5th row. all week the only thing anyone should have told quigley/the special teams coach is "dont let sproles field the kick" our entire gameplan should have started and ended there
our d-line barely got any pressure b/c Bowles was keeping his LBers home to guard against the screen passes to Sproles. And then they punt to him. meh Bowles traded pressure against the pass for coverage in the flats.
1) this isnt accurate. we sent 5 or more players several times, and got nowhere near him 2) just because we only rush 4, is not an excuse to get ZERO pressure. especially with all the empty backfield/5wide sets they went with they had just 5 protecting and still had all day to throw our defensive line flat out got their asses whipped up and down the field. it was a pathetic effort. i expect fitz to be average or bad. i expect our special teams to suck but our dline has no excuse to get dominated in all facets. none.
Dude we posted a 2nd half shut out. It's not as if Bradford had all day to throw...I thought the interior DL did a good job of collapsing the pocket consistently. Where I will agree is that the edge rushers had a rough week. We missed Reilly's motor on 3rd down, Mauldin was at least a step slow,Deion Barnes showed very little & Pace rushing the passer is basically useless at this stage. Not the greatest day for the DL/Pass rush...but I don't think "Zero" pass rush is accurate...and we should know. We've fielded MANY teams..many very recently that really had "zero rush"
This goes better here. I Just got back and settled in from the game, what can I say? Crowd was amp'd, just waiting for the Jets to do something but it really never materialized. Very typical Jets trap game and I guess I should've expected it. Defense was lifeless, offense was useless, racking up some points when the Eagles were just running out the clock skews the full suckitude of the Jets offense today. Fitzpatrick stinks, he's very limited, the guy can't throw the ball deep at all, he is a very poor mans Alex Smith. I won't call for Geno to start because he's definitely worse. But just because Geno is worse than Fitz doesn't mean I have to be happy with Fitz, I'm allowed to want a good QB. It's funny as terrible as this Eagles team is the Eagles fans were so confident, they acted like there was zero chance the Jets win this one and our team was a total joke. That surprised me I thought they would be panicking but they weren't, they were confident, borderline had swagger, very odd. I hate that our team gets other fans excited to play, no matter how bad the other team is. We're like a slump buster. Kinda bummed, but I think we're starting to see that two wins over garbage teams hid the very huge flaws of this team. This team is very mediocre.
Are you actually crediting the 2nd half shutout to the defense and not the fact that the Eagles had a 24-0 lead and took their foot off the gas.
Well golly gee "Doc" I guess I am. As far as I reckon, no points is no points. Why in the world would Philly want to "take their foot off the gas" when: A. they have an offensive minded coach B. They were winless & desperate playing on road C. They had accomplished nothing the first 2 weeks of season offensively and at the very least had kinks to work out. D. Teams like Zona & ***S put up far more points in similar circumstances to that of Philly being up 24-0. Why stop? Philly never came into the game looking to throw the ball over the field any way. Their plan was to take advantage of the Jets "so-so" run fits w/ a variety of runs & attack the flats in the passing game w/ RB's & TEs. The Jets shut it down in the 2nd half. They still lost. It wasn't their greatest effort..but we're really gonna downplay a 2nd half shut out regardless of the circumstances????
I disagree regarding the OL. They are playing much better this season than last when they were using a finesse/zone type scheme. No offense, but even if they weren't, I trust that Gailey and OL coach know more than you do.
What an embarrassing game. Marshal is an official jet now that he made a moronic play Coples personal foul on 3/12 giving the Eagles a first down sums up his sorry career here. Another first round bust.. Just when I thought maybe things will be different, the jets always remind me they are the jets
My observations: Good Marshall - he is a beast and indispensable to our offense. The lateral though was dumb, especially for a veteran. Revis and the secondary. Devin smith - really impressed me given he was a rookie and out for so long. Wouldn't be surprised to see him lock down starting role while Owusu is out. Ugly ugly ugly. Fitzpatrick - I think the receivers are making him look better than he is. He got away with some near interceptions into double/triple coverage. Defenses are going to be able to crowd the box as he's shown no ability to hit the deep ball. Where was clock management in the 4th? Who knows if Geno is worse but a few more games like this and we may have a new QB. Fitz has to be able to win when we aren't +5 on turnover ratio each game and bills/pats won't turn over ball as much as Browns Tight end - I know people say gailey doesn't use one but this offense is screaming for a tight end. Cumberland and Kellen Davis should not be running routes. Demario Davis is bad - he's a very bad tackler. Always getting Juked. Our front 7 - gashed all day. Got away with some drops from Sproles and Mathews or score would have been worse. Brian winters - how could we cut aboushi for this guy. Picked up right where he left off last year in Green Bay causing interceptions.
our offense has been very pedestrian the last 2 weeks. And as far as the need for urgency goes, fitz's demeanor frustrates the living hell out of me. I feel like he dosent have any "go get em" urgency and drive. ALSO - the deep ball is a huge problem, fitz forces double coverage all the time, and its already come back to bite us in the ass. but its not just fitz fault. our receivers are not getting much separation. week 1 i felt really good about our O - week 2 and 3 i felt like same ol jets may be back
spot on analysis Daballhawk. such a sloppy game all around. I cannot wait to draft offensive side of the ball (o line especially)
OK I get it, you have no fucking clue what you're talking about, your posts makes sense now. When a team is up 24-0 they change their offense and try to run down clock and slow tempo, they clearly changed their game plan up at the half, again real obvious.
Every snap that Cumberland plays is essentially wasted body on the field. I'd rather even see an extra offensive lineman than this fucking guy. I want to blame the play calling for the offensive woes but they're just that bad.....again. Defense will continue to improve and be an exciting unit. They'll need to carry us again as we absolutely can not lose to Miami.
any ranking that has powell in green looses all credit. he is horrible. he makes one nice run a gama towards the end and people forget how much he sucked for the rest.
