Not a Mingo fan and was a little upset when everybody was predicting the Jets would take him in the draft. I'd rather roll the dice with our 6th or 7th rounder than give it up for Mingo.
Apparently they want more than that for him. This morning a saw a tweet (Rapaport) that said they wanted a 1st+ for Thomas, and a 3rd for Mack or Mingo. Heard the Broncos offered a 1st for Thomas. Not sure where the cap space would come from?
Mingo in his senior season at LSU was exposed as a lightweight against Texas A&M as he was stoned pass rushing and was swatted out of the way like a fly gainst the run. Another overrated Dion Jordan-type "athletic" OLB that came out of the 2013 draft. No thanks.
Hedberg was a funny fucker. I used to watch football at the home of a big talent manager. Awesome place...flat screens everywhere, all the booze, food and cigars one could want. He even had a whiffle ball field set between the two houses he had that were both set up as ultimate man caves. Every Sunday there were a dozen or so comedians there, some successful...some not. Everyone spoke in punchlines...trying to top each other. Got to be tiring sometimes. Anyway, one day I noted to a buddy that everyone seemed a little reserved and nervous. He told me that Mitch Hedberg was supposed to drop by and they were all a little uptight. He was a big deal among comedians at that time. He never showed...but I started following his career from that point. It didn't last long.
I remember when so many people wanted the Jets to draft this guy coming out of LSU lol Shows how much fans know
I saw him at Rutgers back in like 02 or 03, guy's delivery was great. But you could tell he was in rough shape.
Paul Kruger? 11 sacks last year and probably more of a plus than Mingo Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I'd take Kruger. That guy is one tough son of a bitch. Read up on that guy. He's made of nails. He'd also be a damn solid pass rusher off the edge. Not overwhelming athletically but nothing to sneeze at either and he's very strong and his high motor gets him a lot of sacks. He can bull rush, he can beat a tackle with his speed. I think he'd do very well on this defense, replacing Pace and could play more downs than they've been having their LBs play because he's also very good in the running game. I think he'd also be a good influence on a player like Lorenzo Mauldin in the short term. Making $7 mill but the Browns want to sell big time and they are offering to pick some of that up. Worth a look.
I'm curious as to where you're pulling this from? Do you watch a lot of Browns games or are you pulling this assumption out of the air because he picked off Peyton Manning one week?
If this plan of offering players at very high prices, works out for the Browns, we need to copy it-- Coples for a 3rd. Kerley for a 2nd. Cromartie for a 2nd. Bohannon for a 4th. Cumberland for an 93rd and a used cigarette butt. Geno for an off brand stapler.
I don't base cover skills off a fluke play. I didn't even see the interception. I was going by what Mike Pettine has said plenty of times in the past when he was asked why Mingo doesn't put up the sack numbers.
Honestly, a part of me is hoping Mingo gets traded now because I'm burning with curiosity to see which franchise/GM views Mingo that highly. This season, I'm pretty sure that everyone's expecting Broncos vs Pats in the AFCCG. Win or Lose, that Broncos first rounder is almost a 2nd round pick. Can't blame Browns for wanting more from them. Now I'm wondering if the Browns would ask for more than a first rounder if it was a team struggling for wildcard.
