Ok, enough about the weather and the Browns strength of schedule, etc... What this game really comes down to is our coaching staff... We have better talent than the Browns - maybe not in a landslide, but enough to win this game - even on the road, and even in whatever weather may be presented to us. The Herman Edwards Jets would DEFINITELY drop the ball here - they'd overlook the Brownies and be thinking ahead to NE. The question really is - will our new coaching staff be able to keep the players minds on the task at hand and convey the importance of THIS game. If they do, we should win this game by ten. I'm hoping that Mangini has stressed the "disrespect" of being slotted as underdogs to motivate his guys... as well as the fact that this is a MUST WIN if the Jets even want to sniff the playoffs... I think this coach is different... and I think this team will prevail... Let me get a J E T S JETS JETS JETS!
Damn right we will prevail. This is a great coaching staff we have now. The day before the game and already pumped up? Hell yes. J!-E!-T!-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!
im not sure how you can say that we have better coaching. I love mangini and all but they have Romeo Crennel and i dont know how you can compare them just yet, being new head coaches. Mangini does seem to keep the team very focused and i like that.
If Herm were still the coach, I'd be worried. I,m liking what I see from this new CS. Next year ... look out NFL !
Why would the Herman Edwards Jets "DEFINITELY drop the ball"? We rarely lost games we should have won, sure there was Buf '01, Chi '02 but every team goes through that. Under BP we had Indy '97, Indy '98, NYG '99. It happens. Enough w/ this nonsense about the previous regime. You guys just love to make stuff up.
2001: Lost to Indy- we were underdogs Lost to SF- SF was a playoff team Lost to SL- SL was a SB team Lost to NE- Ne won the SB Lost at Pitt- Pitt was in the AFC title Game Lost to Buf- the ONLY game we lost where we definitely should have won. 2002: Lost to NE- Not a surprise Lost at Miami- not a suprise Lost at Jax- Jax started 3-1 Lost to KC- Chad's 1st start Lost to Cle- Should have won but Cle was a playoff team. Lost at Oak- SB team Lost at Chi- the ONLY game we lost in '02 we definitely should have won. 2003: at wash- we were underdogs Miami- miami was a 10 win team at NE- SB champs Dal- Playoff team at Philly- NFC title Game team NYG- Chad's 1st start back from injury at indy- playoff team at Buf- similar team to Jets NE- SB Champs at Mia- 10 win team in '03 we had ZERO losses to teams we should have beaten. 2004: at NE- SB Champs at buf- 9 win team bal- 9 win team at pitt- AFC title game team NE- SB Champs at SL- SL needed game to get into playoffs in '04 we had ZERO losses to teams we definitely should have beaten. 2005: at KC- KC was 10 win team Jax- jax was 12 win team at bal- brooks' first NFL start at Buf- similar team to us at Atl- 8 win team SD- 9 win team at car- NFC title game team at Den- AFC title game team NO- similar team as ours at NE- 10 win team at Mia- 9 win team NE- 10 win team Let's recap, in 5 seasons as Jets HC the jets lost TWO games to teams that were much worse than us and that we definitely should have beaten. Let's compare that to '97-'00: '97 lost at Buf(6-10, i'll give them a pass for the week 2 loss to Buf) and vs. Indy(3-13) '98 lost to bal(6-10), at SL(4-12) and at Indy(3-13) '99 NONE '00 NONE In the previous 4 years before Herm we lost FIVE games against teams we were much better than and should have beaten.
Does anybody know when the phrase "Same old Jets" really took hold and who wrote it? It seems to me it was in the 80's in the Joe Walton era and became a headline on the back page of one of the tabloids and has become a catch phrase ever since. Or maybe I'm completely wrong on this, I dunno.
And we lost to every team that could have gained us some respect, or that would have made us one of those teams that you "expect" to lose to. Make all the argunents to defend Edwards that you want...he was a choke artist that rode the coat tails of a team built by a proven winner. He wasn't even the best cheerleader we ever had, and we still don't technically have cheerleaders.
Like NE '01, Mia '01(twice), Oak '01? Like SD '02(they were 6-1 when we crushed them), Miami '02, at Ne '02, GB '02? Like Ten '03? Like at SD '04(twice), like TB '05? yeah we never beat any good teams.:drunk:
