Let's see how this goes! He will be at practice tomorrow. Apparently healing very well. http://touch.metro.us/new-york/jets...making-strong-progress/zsJokq---ICuT30X0GOXo/
from what i understand, there really isn't much difference pre or post surgery.its all about pain management. i don't think there is much to worry about
I don't believe he will play, it's not a matter of protecting it, that incision and the normal bruising that occurs inside needs more than 8 days to get back to 100%. I had surgery on torn ligaments in my ankle and it was more than 8 days before I could put normal walking pressure. This guy is expected to play football after repairing torn ligaments in his hand? Prepare for Geno
It doesn't. Tomorrow is Wednesday and it says Bowles expects Fitz to be back Wednesday at practice Terrible comparison. An ankle is drastically different than a thumb. This isn't about whether he can use the hand, it's about pain management, which is what he's already been dealing with. The surgery repaired the tendons, now he needs to play through the pain from the incisions and the healing. Applying over a hundred pounds of weight on a surgically repaired ankle is light years worse than a surgically repaired off hand thumb
Fair enough, but my point is still that he will not play. Prepare for Geno, as I believe he will be in more pain from the surgery.
I honestly think he'll play and be fine. That glove is huge and I guarantee you, makes him feel much more comfortable over the pain with it on. My prediction is he plays. Still a lot of time left for him to heal some more. Just shoot him with some roids and be done with it
Surgery causes swelling, bruising, pain etc. There's also some sort of infection risk and whatnot. It's not ALL about pain management, if the swelling remains and it restricts the mobility and movements in the area he's not going to be able to safely handle the football and so won't play.
Greenday- He's been anything but a wuss. He seldom slides on runs...and played with the glove and still handed off properly. This isn't to say that I think he's a top QB, but give him the props he deserves.
I am amazed he's been able to play this long with the injury. Worse comes to worse, if Geno has to start, JJ Watt tears his arms off--not Fitz's.
Lets be real...you are hoping he plays. Now with that said I hope he starts also. I also don't look for him to start. I had thumb surgery for the same thing he had and 8 days is not enough time. It not about the pain it about the swelling and the grip on the football. I can't see him being able to take a snap from under center. But we all heal different.
Crossing thumbs and fingers we have our QB Sunday I am sure the surgeon has to OK his playing. Maybe he has to sit this one out and come back 11/29 Geno will sh*t the bed for us unless we jus beat them on field goals
If Fitz REALLY REALLY needs an extra week to heal, give it to him. This is the only game this season Geno'd have a shot at winning. That was before the Texans shut out the undefeated Bungles, but still....rather have Geno start this game than any other game on the schedule. If he loses the game, we still have a third+ of the season to recover AND he'd write his ticket off the team.
Looks like he's a go!!! http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...ick-new-york-jets-says-ok-face-houston-texans
