Why the hell did we not always double team the best player in the NFL? Dude absolutely destroyed us, killed us in every way possible. One of the bigger mysteries that I have to say goes on the coaching staff. Lets be clear also, Mo Wilk is not even in the same planet as Watt. That guy stands alone.

i think the game plan was to wear him out by running right at him the whole game. if we could have forced o.t. we would have had him right where we wanted him
Mo and everyone else...They are NOT on the same planet. It's not ridiculous, it's the damn truth. Watt is a absolute game-changer. Wilkerson has been effective, but his actual production is nowhere near. I am not going to get in comparison between Watt and Wilkerson, because there really isn't one.
Yup. He was just toying with the RT the whole game Even moved to the other side and put some work on Brick too. The guy is good can't even hate
Truth. His ability to get into and disrupt the backfield is insane. He has something like 16 TFL on the season, with the next highest player in the league at 12. I think Mo has like 6. Plus, obviously, higher sack production, etc.
They may be on the same planet (MO is very, very good), but Watt is somewhere in the upper atmosphere, while Mo is hanging out somewhere in the liquid outer core with every other really good defensive lineman. It's more than just stats - Watt is in the backfield on literally every fucking play. It's unreal.
Maybe it's me, but watching both guys...It feels so different. Maybe a more precise description for Watt is that he cannot be guarded
The Jet Oline got exposed today for the patchwork work in progress it really is. Hard to imagine how this team has deteriorated over the last 5 years or so. We've gone from having a decent Oline to what we saw today. We've gone from having a great D to a serviceable one with "names" on it. We have NO TE's whatsoever nor do we have a viable ST presence. Add in no pass rush and no deep threat and I give you: The 2015 New York Jets. Face it folks, this team is who we thought it was: A work in progress.
The sack line posted above doesn't include today's game afaik, and then there's also the radical difference in their TFL numbers. (16 for Watt vs. 6 for Mo, I don't think counting today, according to https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/player-stat/defense-tackles-for-loss) Don't get me wrong, love Mo. Wish we'd extended him in the offseason. But Watt is just something else.
It doesn't show up in the stats, it shows up in watching the games how much better he is than everyone else. You can put garbage next to him and the team he plays on would still have a disruptive fron and he forces holdings too. He's a player that forces you to keep a running back in to chip him. Instead we put the runningback opposite of where he was lined up and ran him into the flats. Absolutely puzzling gameplan sometimes.
How about the Tackles for Loss? I think that's where a pretty big difference comes from. Also, after today: Watt - 50 tackles, 11.5 sacks Mo - 40 tackles, 7 sacks
Decent? We had the best offensive line in the league. Jumbo Elliot, Kevin Mawae, Damian Woody, Jason Fabini, Randy Thomas, Brandon Moore, we had some serious talent on this line since Parcells got here.
