    2014 Jets 11 games in: 2-9
    2015 Jets 11 games in: 6-5

A 4 game positive swing that I think is worth noting. There are some "fans" that just won't ever be satisfied no matter what this team does short of winning a SB. There are other "fans" that just can't accept that their chosen player is not playing but the team is still in contention. There are even "fans" that refuse to acknowledge that the team has improved but still is a work in progress because there are new decision makers in place.

Why you might ask? Hard to say but I think its a shame that "fans" can't or won't allow themselves any pleasure whatsoever from the team they claim as their own. They may bristle at the dreaded moniker: "SOJF" but the reality is, the "woe is me attitude" is exactly that. I know this because I used to be one of them. Not any more.

We're in the last 5 games of the 2015 season and frankly, if you're not gonna support the team, don't trash them either. If we make the playoffs? Great! If we don't, even if we lose out we're still 4 games better than last year so we're improving.

In other words, stop trying to make the entire Jet Nation miserable because you are. Grow up and either support the team or stay out of the way.

If you're a fan of the team? Do us all a favor and start acting like it.

    Go Jets!

While we all want a championship.
The bottom line is we watch sports for entertainment.
Playing meaningful football in December is basically what you ask for, for the most part the Jets games this year have been entertaining.

OP, if we lose out from here it will be traumatizing. Otherwise, nice post. :)

I also like the fact that we were at least in a position to win most of the games we lost. There were games last year you could turn it off in the first quarter.

I dont see how the two can be compared when its not the same coach , QB , and we added about 5 players that would've made a huge difference last season.

How many fans , if I told you before the season , that 11 games in we would have a QB and WR on pace for the best seasons in Jet history plus a top 10 defense , Im sure a lot of those fans would say our record would be better than 6-5.

Wanna be happy with 6-5? Fine. In my mind we've underachieved in a big way. Doesnt mean I cant be "happy" with anything. I've been plenty happy during my time as a Jets fan.

I'll be happy on Sunday if we're 7-5 cause at this point Im not expecting it.

The problem you run into is putting this blame on Jets fans in general.

I am a very optimistic fan and there are a lot of us on here but at the same time, there are tons of very good and optimistic fans that don't visit this site or post on forums.

It becomes very easy to label these annoying fans as "a lot" when you just look at this board.

We may not have a super bowl year, this year, but we are in a fight for the playoffs, and to be honest with you, crazier things have happened. The Jets are playing good ball right now. The more we win, the longer I get to enjoy this NFL season and the shorter the break is for the next year.

I love this team and I will root like hell for them until the day I die

A warm round of applause to the OP for bringing in some sunshine into the equation.
Different team or not the facts are clear. We are competive, supported by a better front office, fighting for a spot in December, making this year meaningful, and without mortgaging the future.
We have exceeded expectations, and we have blown some chances for more success. We made plenty of mistakes but always remained in the hunt.
We are not top tier, but we should not be taken lightly. We can upset any team if we play our game, and above all, we are doing it short handed in some key positions and without making promises we can't keep.

IMO this is a matter of seeing the glass half empty or half full. It appears that you prefer to look at it as half empty. If so, I'm sorry for you.

He's comparing W-L records, not personnel or HCs, so it's an apt comparison.

As for the 5 players that would've made a huge difference last season, maybe, maybe not. You're only speculating. With the way Rex coached this team (actually an oxymoron), Marshall could have had an explosion in the locker room or on the sideline because of the lack of focus, discipline and accountability. Fitz could have gone down with a season-ending injury, and at the very least the Jets would have scored a lot less points because the OL was committing so many penalties because Rex didn't hold them accountable or expect them to be disciplined. But for the purposes of this thread, those things don't really matter, because we're comparing the actual W-L records, not comparing HCs or personnel.

As for having both a QB and WR on pace for the best seasons in Jets history, plus a top 10 defense, as much as anything that's an indictment of Jets' history, the sorry GMs they've had and the plethora of missed/wasted draft picks. It's pretty darned pathetic when a mediocre JAG QB is on pace to set the record.

Could our record be better than 6-5? Yes, definitely. Should it be better? Perhaps, but I think that quite a few posters here had unrealistic expectations. The team has a new offensive system, and a somewhat different defensive system. It has a rookie HC and CS that hasn't worked together before, and they are in the process of getting to know the players' abilities and mental make up. Could they be 8-3 or maybe even 10-1? Yes, but everything would have had to go perfectly. Bowles and his CS would have had to coach like seasoned veterans and like they had been here for years and not made any mistakes. The team would have had to avoided the injuries. The Jets players would have had to adapted immediately to the new systems, philosophies and expectations and played flawlessly.

IMO being unhappy because the team isn't 8-3 or better is just silly and one is just choosing to make one's self unhappy. It's focusing on what one doesn't have, on the mistakes, rather than the blessings one does have and the good things that have happened.

Does any of us not wish the record was better than 6-5? No, unless they are placing their agenda of firing Bowles or having Geno start rather than Fitz over the team. We ALL wish the record was better and they hadn't lost games they could have won, but it is what it is. We might as well enjoy the improvement and focus on the positives than sulk or whine about the negatives.

First off , dont need you to feel "sorry" for me because I expect more out of a team that I root for. Im realistic with the teams I root for. When they underachieve , I call it like I see it. Every year its a new team because its never the same roster and in the extreme cases (like this one) its not the same coach or more importantly the same QB.

If we were 6-5 with Geno I would say Bowles deserves the coach of the year.

But I've made my opinions clear on the coaching staff this year on plenty of posts on here. They have flat out been the reason we arent 7-4 or better.

Most Jet fans had the idea of any coach will be better than Rex , implanted into their brain. Well that hasnt been the case so far. Maybe in time it will be better. But for any fan to say that Bowles and co have done a good job this year , they are sadly mistaken. I usually always believe that the wins and losses fall mostly on the players , but this year I see a lot of our losses being directly on the ineptness of the coaching staff. We have 1 impressive win on our schedule and even that win in hindsight might not be that great considering Indy has looked very weak , especially when Luck was healthy.

And you're about the 10th poster I've talked about that brought up "unrealistic expectations". Is it so unrealistic to think that maybe this team should have 1 or 2 more wins than they do? Looking back at our losses I dont think thats unrealistic at all.

I have enjoyed watching many of the Jets' games this season. I've really hated some of them, but some I have really enjoyed. So that's a massive step forward as far as I'm concerned!

And until you are mathematically eliminated from the play-offs, there is always that extra edge to games, so I hope they can stay in contention for a while longer. Actually making the play-offs may be too much of a step to take in one season, but being in contention at this stage feels good.

I can't help thinking how much better I would feel if they had completed that comeback against the Bills. I was watching that thinking I was about to witness one of our greatest comebacks (and I was even enjoying the bright green unis!).

But, overall, I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. It's good to still be relevant after 11 games!

I can just picture Bowles, the CS, and old man Bailey in the "war room" planning the final game plan for Sunday.

Someone says "Boy Coach B you are as cool as a cucumber"

Bowles says "Man you dont wanna see my Tiger side...ill bite your head off...grrrr"

All in all you are right Cman, we improved significantly and that is the most important thing. However, I think that with the amount of money spent on free agents we brought in here, there would be something significantly wrong if we couldn't improve our record from last year. Going from 4-1 to 6-5 is still a disappointment unless we go on another win streak. I think the onus is going to be on Macagnan to have another stellar offseason to keep improving this team to we are definitive 10 win or greater team.
