The 2006 defense has to be the worse Jets defense ever.

Too far!? Hell, I never bashed Sutton like others have this year, I just stayed quiet on Sutton...

But after yesterday and his previous pathetic defensive schemes, get rid of his ass!!

Too far, not at all. Mangini does need to take over more often on the playcalling for defense, because Sutton sits in this preseason vanilla defenses that get shredded like cheese.

I found my self screaming the name of this thread title more than once when we got robbed against the Browns.

"WORST JETS DEFENSE EVER! HOW ARE WE THIS BAD? I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE JETS DEFENSE SO BAD SINCE I STARTED WATCHING FOOTBALL!"

    I feel better....

For some reason I sincerely doubt that sutton is calling the plays on D. No way we bring in this defensive guru and he does'nt have a say so in the d.

Great post. I had to laugh when you said "but if you look beneath the stats they're worse then that".

I completely agree. They show flashes here and there but nothing sustained. At least past teams had a good half or so now we're lucky to get a good quarter. We sure can't stop the run and aren't doing too much better with the pass.

Here's what I don't understand. Most of the time when it's critical for our defense to step up, they are able to stop the run and put pressure on the QB.

Now I know that yesterday the Browns went into a shell and were playing not to lose with run, run, run, but it seems to be a disturbing trend throughout the season with our defense. If we're up a couple of scores - forget about seeing any kind of pass rush or run stopping ability. If we're down 1 or 2 scores, the defense actually looks good.

That whole expansion draft hurt our defense. We gave up two big DB's in that debacle.
