An A for Chan Gailey????? After that debacle last week??? After that RIDICULOUS game plan??? After 6 carries for Ivory? After throwing into the endzone from the 14, down 2 late in the fourth??? I dont think so. And the defense, especially that huge money d line, was rather a disapointment. Owned by Tyrod twice, tj Yates (something like that) and Derrick Carr. Very friendly ratings.
Agree, 1/3/2016 lost my faith in whole team. However grades were based on the win streak, records broken on offense, and entire season not just one game albeit a horrendous job of coaching. The jets let us down in Buff and recast my doubts about team, CS and Fitz
I dont blame Fitz......but the CS sure as hell put his deficiencies on full blast. Unfair to expect him to do it all.....and unfair to starve Ivory, after the work he did all year..for that matter. And that d-line? Were we dead last in sacks???? Must have been very close, because i dont remember any. Lol
I got clobbered here with my Bowles criticsm eg "rookie coach excuse". Then to tell the press Ivory "needed a rest". Yep TB 's clock decisions no TO calls equaled some lost points
Thanks for the explanation. It doesn't matter if it's to my satisfaction, but I appreciate the effort. I just didn't understand where you were coming from, because you seemed to like Mac and think he had done a great job so far, so I didn't understand your position. I do now. You may be right, he may not get it, but I think he deserves it. I know you don't care about those kinds of awards, but I think it would be nice for the Jets and our fan base. We've gotten too little praise and acclimation or recognition over the years for the few good things we have done. I don't think the lack of depth should be held against him. Everyone in the NFL should know that it took much longer than one year for the Jets' roster to get in the sorry shape in which it was in, and was going to take longer than one off season to fix it.
Mac had 3 missteps that cost him an A+ grade in my book. I gave him an A - instead. I think his missteps were done out of placating the coaches. Cro and Harris bloated contracts. These signings had to be done at the behest of the CS: I expect we could have found an adequate replacement for Harris for that amount of $. And Cro, well his has been too up and down over that past few years to be paid that $. The third was Owsawu over Powell. Similar skills, one concussion prone and the other not. Hard to justify. TB, solid A. Assembled a good staff and held the team together well. CG, solid A. Jets WR using pick plays, who'da thunk it! As for the rest, hard to say, B's I suppose except to the ones who got deservedly fired of course.
Like who? He was the best MLB in FA this year, teams like the Bears, Bills, Falcons would have offered him more without a doubt, but he decided to stick around. He could have easily gotten more on the market if he cared enough to find out. He was the only option at that point. If Harris walks in the offseason there's no way our defense would have been this good, especially against the run. What bothers me with the deal is how it was structured. Basically we have to carry him for 3 years now (2 after this season). 15 mil. guaranteed and his base salary is around 7 mil. each of those 3 years. I don't see how that makes any sense with an aging player who has lost a step. I guess he could be a Junior Seau/Donnie Edwards/Zach Thomas type guy, he can lead and play the run, that's about it. We need to find a playmaking ILB next to him who can run and create turnovers and deliver some big hits. That Alabama guy could be another CJ Mosley, we have a shot to get him in the draft.
He should be gone already and take Kellen Davis, Cumberland, Demario Davis, Milliner, Pace and a few more with him
