Fair value for Powell. When healthy he's explosive

Isn't that what he's at in guaranteed money?

Love the re-signing, and good for Bilal. He's a true professional and we fans should applaud him, especially after getting slapped across the face with CJ2K.

Before the season started there was a large contingent of fans here that considered Powell a 'jag', that he wasn't any good. Lol.

Good signing. The backfield is looking good now and it was the biggest question mark going in to free agency. I thought Powell was very crucial last year, even more than Ivory at some points. Forte / Powell is a nice combo. Both can catch and make big plays.

Now if only the Jets can get a QB. They've gotta be down to $2m in cap space at best now, so they'll need some big restructures to keep Fitz at this point.

why do you disagree. he is guaranteed 80k. thats not the contract of a guy thats a lock to be on the roster.

You don't use RB by committee with a first round stud imo.

For several reasons. One, because I don't think Mac works that way. He fixed the backfield so he could focus on other areas in the draft. I don't think he would take a RB in the first 3, maybe 4 rounds now unless he was a burner who was also a PR/KOR. Two, Robinson is an excellent RB and is more of a power back, something neither Forte nor Powell are. Three, while that contract is not the contract of a guy that a lock to be on the roster, it's just what the doctor ordered for the cap-strapped Jets. If he can get an effective short-yardage RB who is good enough to function as a feature back for that cheaply, he'd be dumb not to. Four, do you really think after he paid Forte $4 million and Powell $2 he's either gonna play the rookie and let them waste away on the bench, or let the rookie waste away on the bench while he plays them? RB is the easiest place for a rookie to come in and start from day one and play well. Why waste a 1st or 2nd round pick on a topflight RB prospect and then have him sit most of the time for at least one-two years.

It just makes no sense to me.

Wow - next year we'll have forte, powell and robinson for almost the same price as *just* Ivory - 4m (forte), 1.7m (powell) 1.175m (robinson) vs Ivory's 'at or upwards of 6mil'

Nice signing. This allows the jets to fully utilize Forte by lining him up in the slot at times and still having a dual threat RB on the field.

So you're saying mac does not use the bpa.
Mac set the rb corps but left it flexible if the right player becomes available. Not sure zeke gets to 20 but theres no financial reason not to take him if he does

This is the philosophy if been preaching to the "RB is not an important position" crew. This game is all about creating favorable match ups on the fly and not letting the defense substitute to counter. Now let's draft a future game changer in the 2nd or 3rd round this year and solidify the slobs up front

I would go all LB and OL in the draft. An OL that can be block with the number of weapons on this team is pretty damn good.

I'm not saying any such thing, so quit trying to put words in my mouth.

BPA isn't always a static thing. In fact, probably more often there are two or more players who are roughly equivalent, who have identical scores or are within a fraction of a point from each other. Certain positions are more important than others as well.

I don't see any scenarios where zeke elliott is going to be the BPA at #20. I don't think he's all that and a bag of chips. There may not be any financial reason, but there could be several football reasons not to take him. To begin with, Mac might not like him for some reason...perhaps something in his interview or in his medical report. Some other team might covet him and be willing to reward the Jets nicely for trading down. There might be a player or players that Mac has rated equally or higher at other positions that Mac likes and think will help the team more.

You need to work on your reasoning powers.

You say you don't see any reason Zeke is BPA at 20, use a bunch of vague hypotheticals to back that up, then tell him HE needs to work on his reasoning powers? Errr... alrighty then.
