    Grabbing Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland

I was very anti TE until recently.Considering the question marks at QB and OL I think that he would provide an immediate impact as a safety valve reciever as well as take the pressure off of our WR corps as a whole. Considering the state of todays NFL the position is becoming more important thatn RB. Pennington (and Kitna also if we go that route) are at their best when they are able to attack the middle of the field because they dont have great arm strength to hit the sideline routes. We are watching the revolution of the TE position right now with some really elite talents coming out.

I can also see us doing this because this regime is not tied to Bradways mistakes and wont use the Jolley mistake as the logic for not drafting an elite talent.

Im saying this is if we got the #9 from the rumored lions trade because I dont think davis is a good value at #4. He would also be good if we simply traded down. Somewhere in that range come draft day.

It looks like we have a lot more options shaping up than we thought. If we could sign a couple OL like Shaeffer (OLT) and Bentley (C/G) and a few veterans on D (Willie Mecginest, Sam Adams) we could be in great shape going into the draft and drafting a TE would not be such a "luxury" pick anymore.

    I'm excited!

If the the Jets have the 4th and 9th I think they should take Mario Williams at number 4. They will need a de to replace Abe. Then maybe Lendale White or Deangelo Williams at number 9.

Right now I have San Francisco taking Vernon Davis at 6...

Alex Smith needs a game breaking target like that and he is probably the best weapon in the draft besides Reggie Bush. If I was a Niner fan that's who I would want...

I agree but we havent entered free agency yet. Say we sign kevin Shauffer(OLT), LeCharles Bentely (C/G), get either Kitna or Ramsey to compete with pennington. Then we trade Abe and net the #9 overall pick. That is what I'm looking at. We wont have the same holes that we do now in a month.

The last thing in the world we need is another first round TE when we have about 15 other needs to fill. Bad idea.

I understand the reasoning, but for some reason I still have a hard time seeing the 49ers passing on A.J. Hawk. They were dead last in total defense and have let Julian Peterson hit the free agent market.

AJ Hawk is also a VERY distinct possibility and probably more likely...I just know if I was the Niners I would try and give Alex a serious weapon ASAP.

If we get the #9 there is no way we can pass on Winston Justice.

I think he would be a good pick too...

Cutler at 4 and Winston at 9 would be a real nice way to begin rebuilding the offense.

Oh man, I would see that as one of the worst routes we could go with it. Two reaches in my opinion.

if it wasnt for the injury last year winston would be the best OT in this years draft. hell he shoulda been a top 5 pick last year before the injury, so you wouldnt be reaching as far as talant.

we already have another first round DE on the roster to replace abe

actually, TE is one of those "15 needs" all we have is jolley, who was supposed to be a pass catching threat yet couldnt catch a cold, not to mention his horrible, orrible blocking. it doesnt look like we're resigning baker who was having a breakout year untill the plague struck the team locker room, but still hasnt proven anything.

i think davis would be a very good pick. he is a better reciever and blocker than both baker and jolley, its a team need, and if we stick with chad who wont have much arm stregth, a good TE is just the thing that would help him out. or, if we get a new QB, it is always good to have a reliable recieving TE to help them out.....

It's so funny how someone posts one bogus "report" from the lies of NFL teams before the draft and all of a sudden there are posts "im starting to like if we get the #9 pick" and of course there is someones 3 book documentary of their life and how they see the step by step process in which the jets will mystically achieve getting the #9 from tactics they learned in their madden franchise mode.

Well anyway just stopping by to see which over-rated college player is this boards opinion based on "FACT!!!111oneoneone" the jets are for sure to draft @ #4.

Is it d-fergisuck still? or was it like before the rose bowl in reggie 4.4 40 to the outside? Or wait... is it the person who everyone KNEW the jets were going to draft within the 5 day period after the rose bowl in vince young? Oh... wait... is it jay cutler still.... Does anyone honestly think thats a good choice? He is just another scrub from another bad school.

I hope your not talking about Thomas. :rofl2:

If we have two first round picks though, in my opinion, with Mangini/Tannenbaum it will be one offense, one defense.
