Of course they do. Maybe not with the coaching staff, but with Woody?

Long time Jets favorite Kellen Clemens still has a job in this league. His body of work speaks highly of his talents. If only Geno can have such luck. Being mediocre is so selective.

Hey man, someone said we were already offered on of those eight ball things, what more do you want for Geno? We're already getting a steal here....

In all seriousness, I think people confuse mediocrity with not being some level of elite or excellent. I haven't really followed Clemens much, but what I do know tells me he is a fairly reliable backup. The kind of guy you know will be ready at a moments notice if your starter goes down and still gives you a chance to win the game(s). Do you want him to be your starter all of the time? No. But then again you could have Michael Vick as your backup. Once upon a time Vick was considered a good starter (by some), but as a backup he was abysmal. Geno's attitude seems to be cut more from the Vick cloth than Clemens. To me that means he will brood, sulk, and be unprepared should he be needed if Fitz goes down.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that some people find their niche. Clemens found his niche. OTOH, Geno hasn't and likely won't IMHO. Geno's problem is that he isn't good enough to start and mentally won't accept backup. So if he doesn't improve he is useless at best and a cancer at worst.

    But that's just my $.02

No, I think Woody had enough of Rex. Idzick had his chance and did little with it, other than purging the roster of cap...and talent.
I was willing to give Idzick more time, but we're much better off now.

Agreed. Mac has done a terrific job. Seems like there is talent up and down the roster. The fact that the biggest issue is who the backup QB will be says alot.

No chance. Geno doesn't really fit on the Vikings. Hill is a better game manager

If Geno leads the Jets to the playoffs, then yes, he could be the long-term answer. Winning is the bottom line. If Geno somehow turns it all around, then I say move over Fitz, Petty and Hackenburg, "there's a new sheriff in town!"

I think it virtually certain that Hill will start but they still might be looking for a backup. Same with the Cowboys. Id be fine with Jets trading Geno for a bag of balls or a kicking tee as long as the other team took his salary. It isn't much but every little bit you free up helps.

Wont happen. Sanchez wasnt the long-term answer, and he took the Jets to 2 AFCC's

Had such high hopes when geno was a rookie.
NOW.....i have seen enough. Geno for all his physical talent, makes mind numbing decisions ( running out of bounds...instead of throwing ball away ). Repeats the same mistakes over and over >> sickening.

Geno is not a good locker room guy....to say the least. Just bad energy for a team on the rise.
Get what we can and let him try somewhere else.

As a Jets fan base we can say what we say regarding Geno but as a former 2nd rounder & as a 4th year player he's still regarded (around the NFL) as a top 1-3 NFL backup as of right now.

I'm a big Geno believer and none of us have ever seen how Geno would perform being surrounded by the likes of Marshall, Decker, Enunwa and Forte behind a stout defense therefore you have no clue how Geno could play while no longer being surrounded by less than ideal situations.

With that said even as a Geno supporter I'm still willing to trade Geno, especially considering the fact that he's an up coming Free Agent come the offseason.

But if a team such as Dallas (Rookie QB) or Minnesota (aging backup QB with no athleticism) are desperate for a QB in order to salvage their 2016 season with a trade? Then it's not going to be Geno for a 5th or 7th rounder. They'll have to give up something of value. Such as a 2nd/3rd rounder. Nothing less.

Give us a 2nd or 3rd rounder and Geno just gave us value with Petty & Hackenberg awaiting within the rings. If not willing to give a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Geno then there will be no trade of our #1 backup.

Alright. You're out of your mind dude. I get optimism but a 2nd or 3rd rounder for a guy with a career 27 touchdowns and 35 picks on top of 16 fumbles? Don't forget about his worst attribute which is retreating for big sack losses. Outrageous. The Vikings and Cowboys both have better options on their roster, not to mention there's a ton of better options out there that front offices would cream over getting even a 6th round pick for.

Think Matt Moore, Matt Schaub, both McCown's, Colt McCoy type of players. They're both teams built on avoiding turnovers from their quarterback. The last thing they'd want is a turnover machine like Geno.

It's also too late in the game really for either of those teams to make a move at that position. Look at how long it took Cassel to learn the Cowboys. The season could basically be lost by the time they're up to speed, which could be as long as 5 or so weeks. It's a waste of a draft pick. Their best bet is to stick with the rook and the vet whom actually know the playbook and have some rapport with the skill position players.

Clemens is a great backup. Good enough to do alright in relief, not good or flashy enough to start a QB controversy. Cheap and reliable. That's exactly what you want in a backup.

You are right about Vick, he's not backup material. I remember watching him in practice at Cortland though and I was wowed at his athleticism. Just a flick of the wrist and he would zing it 30 yards downfield. He takes off running and gets 6-8 yards downfield before a lot of the defense knows he even took off. And this was as a 34 year old vet!! What a disappointing career. He should've been one of the best ever. And it wasn't just missing time for the dog fighting- he never had his head on straight to match his physical abilities, what a shame
