Junc, I agree with this. He is in a terrible situation, they need to make an effort to just run the ball and try to keep him healthy until next season. Hopefully by then they would address the oline and WR situation.
Heh. I said something similar in the NFL Week 15 thread, but in all seriousness, you need to give a top 5 pick at least four years to develop into something. I said the same thing to Giant fans about Eli and he won a Super Bowl after four years. I also said the same thing about Mark Sanchez and we ended up with the 2012 debacle. Goff? Still a huge question after just a few starts into his rookie year.
I don't think Goff can or will bounce back. IMO he just isn't very good. I never saw what others saw in him when he was at Cal. When he entered the draft, I didn't want him as a UDFA. I think he's that's bad and got that weak and inaccurate an arm.
OMG! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHA. Congratulations!!! You now have the honor of having posted the single stupidest, most inaccurate statement that I've ever seen on a Jets fan site!!! I've seen plenty of them, including quite a few on this site, but yours takes the cake. You really need to take up a new sport, because you don't understand football. If you truly are JUNC, then that explains it.
Goff's footwork and pocket presence are on another level. There were times last night where every player on his offensive line got beaten and he kept his feet chopping and drifted through lanes while keeping his eyes downfield. He's 20 miles ahead of Petty in that regard (who just lets people run at him and panicks when his first read isn't open or the pocket collapses), at 3 years younger and without a redshirt year. He played without a head coach on a short week against an elite defense in the toughest stadium in the NFL and his receivers couldn't hold onto anything. Goff is way, way more appealing than Petty, which is why a team traded multiple first round picks to get him while Petty slipped to the 4th round and was undraftable on some teams' boards.
His pocket presence was pretty sick and yes his footwork is nice but his arm and accuracy lacks ... he did throw a nice bomb downfield that was just flat out dropped sure it might take him 4 years to develop but what does that say about a 4th rounder if a first rounder takes 4 years does he take 16 half kidding ... in most cases they either have it or they don't
Petty played on the road against the fcking Niners. Goff played a primetime game against one of the best defenses and home fields in the league. Pump yo brakes.
Announcers made a comment that applies to the Jets: They said it's becoming the thing to let a new QB sit for the first 10 games or so and then come in and finish out the season, just to get some growing pains out of the way and make next year's TC more meaningful.
Really man..stop trolling. NO further warnings will be given. Your next trolling event will be your last. Mgmt.
The biggest reason why Petty > Goff: Petty = 4th + 7th round picks Goff = 2 1st + 2 2nd + 2 3rd - 4th - 6th round picks
I never understood the Goff pick to tell you the truth. He showed flashes of ability but he was so young that he didn't exactly kill it against a team like Stanford. Staying in school an extra year would have gone some way to cement his legacy. If he'd of played against teams like UW and USC who are chock full of NFL talent this year he'd of been a slam dunk. His 2016 pick is looking like a reach.
