Is that not what we're doing here? That's the premise of the thread, no?

If Hack is the future why put him in harm's way? Let Fitz get beat up.. Then let Powell back him up or whoever played qb before.

Woody won't lose any fan base. If you want to leave you should leave someone else will be there to replace you. Jet fans are angry they should be. Expectations were high and the team disappointed in all areas. Players played poorly and coaches coached poorly. There are no guarantees in the NFL. Changing coaches every two years gets you nothing but an unstable franchise. It's worked well in Cleveland right? Tomorrow the seasons over, we will look forward to the draft and free agency and look at the team differently in 2017. Jump ship, never! I've watched for over 50 years and I will watch and cheer every year I am alive. Go JETS!!!

He won't lose half the fanbase. As has been pointed out, there's a sucker born every minute and that line is pretty long when it comes to the Jets. Nobody wants to be a Jet fan because the team is a perennial winner. People want to be Jet Fans usually because family or friends already are. You can follow the Jets w/o plopping down a huge chunk of cash for PSL's too. You can be a Jet fan w/o buying the swag.
Older fans like me are pretty much done being "fanatics". We've seen it all before and we're seeing it play out again. Woody's concern as always lies with the PSL buyers. The only fans that count contribute to the bottom line.

I thought the fact that he'd still be under Parcells had something to do with him leaving.

Isn't it funny how the fan base reacts to doing what they claim is proper, they say this team has no idea how to develop a QB then when they try, then they say its stupid, some of these guys just want to see Hack get thrown to the wolves tomorrow, so they can say he's a complete bust, sad

I don't go to games ..and have no desire to

Last one for me was the last game at Shea Stadium a dreadful loss to Balt or Pitt not sure

So many posters have said they regularly don't watch games on TV/Cable anymore for fear of "a ruined weekend"

    Start of a trend

I just want to see what Hack can do with skills he now has

If he is combustable then we know sooner than later

It seems like woodhead is perfectly willing to bring back Bowles, and have another losing season.

You guys that think theres a line waiting to be Jet fans are wayyyyyy off base . The only reason there are people in the seats ,if any is that opposing teams fans are buying the tickets ! There is no one waiting in line for Jet tickets in fact you cannot give them away and more than likely must pay someone to take them ! I was offered luxury box seats over 2 months ago for this weeks game and said no thanks. There is no waiting list and I think it is fair to say that after this year some season ticket holders will just talk about leaving but many are going to be gone !
The bottom line is Woody and company do not care who sits in the seats and purchases the tickets they just want fannies in the seats and luxury boxes. So what if they are Steeler fans or Dolphin fans OR any other fan ,they all buy beer ,food and tix with cash right ? The waiting list is a thing of the past and the novelty of being a Jet fan has worn off quick since back to back AFC Championship appearances. All we wanted or at least I wanted was a rebuild 2 years ago if not sooner that showed the team heading in the right direction, drafting well, coaching up players, putting in a philosophy that team and fans bought into and seeing a competitive product out there getting better each week and year ! Instead we got a steaming hot pile of Dog Crap and there is zero hope in sight !
I will say it again Thank God I did not buy a PSL and gave up my season tix after year 1 in the new place,,,great Job Woody and flunkies ! Now in keeping with this thread ------>Yeah Bring Back Bowels and the rest of this mess and watch people burn up the phone lines trying to get tickets ! Right now Woodrow needs to pull a rabbit out of his ass to get people back next year and is better off selling the team if the thinks the answer is keeping this mess intact or just firing Gailey and or Rodgers will appease the villagers he's nuts ,,,,,rant over Happy New Year !

There certainly looked to be plenty of empty seats for the last game. This is the only thing Woody would worry about.

    Exactly.

I want to see him out there for a bit mainly as a progress report of sorts. We saw what he did in the preseason. Supposedly that's what he's been working on for the last sixteen weeks, correcting the mistakes that were made then. Put him out there for a few series and see where things stand.

It would have to be one of things where it's done where everyone in advance decides that there's no expectation for his performance. It would mainly be about getting some idea of the progress made since August and putting some further reps on film so that he can use that to facilitate his learning in the offseason. Even if it had to be done with a very strict script, that would be fine, but I think he should see the field for at least a series or two.

im sure it had something to do with it, im sure it had quite a bit to do with it but I think that the uncertainty of the jets entire organization and the work that kraft put in to make him want to be there were bigger reasons. I think kraft saw something from him when he was there in 96. i may be wrong, i think he hired him later on but i have faith that kraft knew what he was doing and made it happen.

he wont lost the whole fanbase, he wont lose half the fanbase but he will lose another portion of it. he has already lost portions over the years, especially when he went with the new mausoleum. a lot, I mean A LOT of jets fans bailed on the team when they built that stadium and we didn't have a HUGE fanbase to begin with. we went from 30k waiting list to them begging folks to come to games and upgrading them to suites just for fun.

there were many other events that I am sure hit the fan base, the vick signing, edwards, rex, favre, sanchez, holmes. all little bits, probably tiny bits but little bits none the less.

at this point I really do feel that it will be hard to sell this team to anyone, and many of the old fans have walked away or are in the process of asking themselves why they haven't. section 314 has stated that he is done after this year, that's a guy who has been going to games forever and was an ardent supporter just a few years ago. and now he has had enough.

while no one thing will decline the fanbase to a brutal extent add them together and it begins to be a problem, here in ct there are nothing but patsies and giants fans. there are more cowboys and steelers fans than jets fans. the two asshole franchises in our area being good for the past 15 years hasn't helped anything. new York is all giants other than the long island area, but we lost a bunch of those and the kids aren't becoming jets fans when we walked away from queens and then from Hofstra. so we have systematically alienated more and more and more and more fans on far too many occasions for the fanbase to grow. im willing to bet its shrunk in the past 25 years.

we are the ONLY franchise in that doesn't own a single county in the us as of 2014, that's a fucking pitiful statement.

I live 3 miles away, but gave up my season tickets during the Kotite years.

I go to a loose game every now and then, but the non-PSL seats they are selling are in the upper bowl, where there is always trouble.

When they decided to charge $50 to park, I decided to just stay home and watch on my big screen.

I couldn't agree more. he got a pass last year even though most of us saw his warts because we probably thought the guy could
I couldn't agree more. last year this stiff got a pass because we knew he was a rookie and could (key word here) learn and build upon his 2015 year. Wrong! He has regressed to a level that makes his a Kotite caricature, something this writer never thought I would have to endure (another key word) again! Woody better fire this stiff or I'll be watching other teams next year and thereafter till he cleans this mess up and I am a 50 year fan.

PSL holder are selling tickets to opposing fans. The organization has become a fun game to go to for opposing fans. Visit NYC and watch your favorite team kick the Jets ass.
