I will admit I am as excited as I have been in a while for this game, we have a chance to go 2 games over .500 or be right at .500 ? a huge difference. With that being said I will be focusing on several ?Match-Ups? on Sunday.

    1) For me the most important match up is going to be the Jets D-line VS the Bears O-line.
They have some pretty beefy guys in there ( Krutz, Brown, Miller, Tait)
And the key will match-up in my opinion will be how well we hold down Krutz. If Moore and DRob can neutralize him and not let him pull, we have a shot at winning this battle. If we can do this we will make them drive block and run drives and smashes. We then will have the ability to bring the backers and a safety on a blitz; neutralizing their power up front. If that happens expect to see some tosses or sweeps and tackles behind the line if we continue to bring the heat.
    2) If match-up #1 happens and we win that battle, look for a ton of one on one with Muhammad (that scares me and I would put Dyson on him) and hopefully Berrian is still hurt and does not play. Miller running with Berrian will be a true track meet and hopefully we will get to Grossman before Miller gets beat.
    3) Brick and Mangold VS Brown/Ogunleye and Urlacher. Don?t get me wrong, Tommy Harris is one of the best in the game, but we drafted Brick to handle speed rushers and both Brown and Ogunleye fit the mold. If the line can give Penny the same time they did last week, we will have the chance to hit several big plays and move the chains. Let?s hope last week was the start of something special for the O-line. I have a feeling we could get dominated by this group though, they are stout up the middle and fast on the edges. There secondary is not as good as they play, the front 7 just generates a ton of pressure all day long and forces the Offense into compromising situations; case and point Eli Manning Sunday night.

I know it is very obvious each and every week in the NFL and this game is no different; It will be won or lost in the trenches. With that being said in my opinion, we are weaker in both situations. To counter that I think you will see us bring more rushers on D and use more max protect sets on Offence. I would like to see some of the formations we employed last week with 3 and 4 receiver sets to force the bears to use the Dime more and take Briggs out of the equation (he is a beast). Just a Jets fans thoughts??God I hope we pull this one out!

    Another couple of keys

Jets D vs. Grossman. If we can confuse him with some movement and different looks, I think he'll make some mistakes that we can capitalize on.
ST vs ST. We both have dynamic return men. Who is going to make the big play? Us or them?

Grossman has some talent, but when pressured he will turn it over----ALOT. I hope we can do what we did to Brady last week.

Won't happen, our offensive line is on a roll and we will look to run the ball more this game. Look for Thomas to have a big game.

A roll? we won one game agains a very good team. To me a roll is at least 2 wins in a row? What makes you think Thomas will have a big game? If you would have said Ellis I would have understood comming off of his 2 sack gam agains the Pats.

Dont underestamate the O-line of the Bears, they manhandled a depleated Gians line, a line that is compareable to ours with out Osamuria and Strahan in it.

He said our our offensive line is on a roll, and he's right. They've been on a roll all season and a main factor as to why we're above .500.

I think the most important match-up this weekend is our blitz D coming early and often to smack that punk Grossman in the face. If they can get to him and ravage him in the way they did to Brady last Sunday then I like our chances.

On the topic, whats your thoughts on Anthony Clement? I think he has been pretty rock solid all year, I love the addition of Wade too...no more AJ

I agree that how we handle the Bears O-Line play is HUGE this week. Thomas Jones runs off tackle very well and the Bears do a lot of trapping with their pulling guards. We that said Barton and Hobson will be key players this week. They must effectively play off their blocks and flow Jones back into the middle of the field.

I would expect to see our safeties up on the line and/or used in a 4 - 4 defensive package. This would allow a good deal of stunting, zone blitzing and mixed blitz packages.

Good point, good point. Ill admit Hester is a beast. Hes doing exactly what he did at the 'U' here in the NFL. And Justin "I love him/I hate him" Miller is one of our x-factors. On many occasions, he's got us the big plays we needed. So for our benefit either Graham needs to get major hangtime on his punts or decide not to kick to this guy and boot it outta bounds. ST is gonna play a HUGE role in this game.

Anybody else feel this might be a low-scoring game?

We need to put a lot of pressure on Grossman, especially early in the game. He's showed his weakness against the fish and arizona.

Oline is on a roll. They've been playing better every week.

It really depends on what jest D shows up. Listen, I love the Jest with all of my heart since I was 6 but we as jets fans get wayyyyy to excited after a win and wayyy to down after a loss. I just want to see some of what I have been this year, consistent improvement. If our D is staring to gell like I think it is...we could be looking at a low scoring affair because we will have a hard time scoring against these guys. Their D is very similar to the JAGS, and we dont want to bring that game up

Graham might turn into the X factor. If our D can play like they did last week, and we know how good the Chicago D is, this could be a serious field position game.

50 came on a run, then that 4-play 60 yard drive thru the air, after the Jets had Brady all day including the Rhodes tipped pass, Smith hitting Caldwell then Dyson missing the tackle...

Despite that, the defense made tremendous strides from prior games.

I actually get a feeling it is going to be surpisingly high scoring. I think that the Jets match up very well against cover 2 with Pennington, and I think that we can pressure Grossman into some mistakes and turnovers. I think both teams will get a lot of extra "hidden" yards on special teams and have some short fields. I think that Chicago, while a very good team, has been very vulnerable lately and I think that they will stand a good chance at coming out flat. Reports from training camp are that the Jets view this as their biggest test so they will be amped. I think the D finally gels next week, and Pennington has a great game. Jets 34 Chicago 23

I think the key matchup is the Jets Oline and lead blocking vs. the whole D of Chicago. If the O-line can't create running lanes or protect Penny it's gonna be a long day. And also not making mistakes as far as turnovers go.

I hear a lot of talk about how good Rex Grossman is until he's pressured. It doesn't matter if the Jets have a good day against the Chicago's offense.(see disclaimer below) If I remember correctly a one Chad Pennington is also prone to having poor games under pressure. The Jets have been fortunate enough staying out of trouble with turnovers. The Jets offense is not a powerhouse with weapons to nulify, what can arguably be, one of the best defenses put together. Chicago is full of ball hawks and hitters and when they get the ball that defense turns into an offense and everyone's game. There's no falling on it or running out of bounds. All the Jets have to do is give it to Chicago one or 2 times against this team on the wrong side of the fifty and the game can be over.

Excitement is not what comes to mind when getting ready for this matchup.

Disclaimer: Just winning field position battles alone isn't enough as well as meaningless turnovers. The X factor in this game is the Jets defensive scoring opportunities.
