Got this from FOX: # The Bears lead the all-time series, 5-3, including a 20-13 victory in the last meeting in 2002. The teams have totaled less than 40 points combined in each of the last seven meetings. # The Bears will become just the fifth team since 1970 to play the Giants and Jets on the road in consecutive weeks (with Redskins in 1972, Cowboys in 1987, Colts in 1993 and Redskins in 1999). # Chicago has lost 15 of its last 21 road games vs. AFC opponents, and has scored 10 or fewer points in eight of its last 12 inter-conference road contests. # Eight of the Jets' nine games this season have been decided by eight points or fewer, including three games decided by three points or fewer. # New York has won its last three games played the week after playing the Patriots, averaging 28 points per game in those games.
One note on that. In 2003, Dallas played at NYG and at NYJ in consecutive games, but they had a bye in between games.
I hate meaningless stats such as, "Since 1968, the Bears have done such-and-such......" You're better off tuning anything like this out because, in today's NFL, what a team did even 2-3 years ago means absolutely nothing, let alone decades ago. But I'll grant that #4 is probably relevant: "Eight of the Jets' nine games this season have been decided by eight points or fewer, including three games decided by three points or fewer."... and perhaps #5: "New York has won its last three games played the week after playing the Patriots, averaging 28 points per game in those games."
Yeah, I know what the Jets did in 1979 or 1985 against the Bears or any other team has no relevance in today's NFL...I just like stats, for some reason they interest me. I hate the fact that the Jets historically get beaten down by the likes of SF, the Rams, Eagles, Redskins, and Steelers and I take a little pride that the Jets have surprisingly good records against good fabled franchises like Minnesota and GB...Hopefully that trend continues in '06... I agree about #4 and #5 those are relevant stats and hopefully carry over on Sunday - 11/19/06 that is....
Don't you know that the reason the Bears lost to the Dolphins is that the Dolphins broke their undefeated season in 1986 too?
I was at the game where Johnny Johnson ripped off the 90+ yarder and was stopped short of scoring the TD around the 1 or 2... Needles to say, we didn't score... The Days of the SOJ....
Actually, the Bears lost to the Dolphins because in 1985 the Bears stayed on the first floor of a Holiday Inn in Green Bay, Wisconsin and lost to the Packers the next day. Coincidentally, the Bears, 21 years later, have booked rooms at the Holiday Inn in Secauscus this Saturday night and so, statistically, they will lose on Sunday to the Jets, who will stay in the Sheraton, as did the 1985 Packers the night before the Bears game. It's all tied together, don't you see?
so what you are saying is that the holiday inn is the bears curse? Nothing about what their talent, it just has to do with the hotel?
