We should but who knows if we will or who will be available. Maybe we don't get a comp pick maybe we do, really not worth selling him cheap. a 5th rounder is basically nothing anyway. what's the chances even with a 1st round pick of us landing someone of sheldons caliber? lee? wilson? pryor? none of them are close and those were our recent 1st round picks

We could, but it's not "ideally" for anyone who understands the cap or for those of us who understand how a loudmouth, immature moron, can sabotage the team chemistry and identity that they're trying to build.

we have a crap ton of cap. plus no guarantee wilk bounces back. what if wilk has another shit year and sheldon gets 15 sacks? we'd be better off paying sheldon and cutting wilk. we can afford to carry sheldon this year and even franchise him for 1 more if we wanted to. He hasn't been a loudmouth, yeah he jawed at marshall but to be fair marshall ruined out chemsitry, sheldon just called him out on it, i have no issue with that. as far as we can see, all the players love sheldon but everyone has hated marshall on every team he's been on. that's why the broncos and bears traded him for cheap.

Just because we have a lot of cap space doesn't mean that we should waste it. Richardson expects BIG money in this new contract. I'm not tying up big money in any player with his history. We don't have to spend all of our cap space. Some can be carried over. Besides, unless Bowles is gone and the new DC wants to switch to the 4-3, it would not be smart to tie up a huge chunk of the cap in the DL when it is probably the least important position group in a 3-4 or 3-4 hybrid defense.

Even if Mo does have a bad year this year, which I don't think he will, I would be surprised to see him cut unless his attitude isn't good and he's clearly dogging it. They would save $11 million on the cap, but would incur $9 million in dead money charges.

If the Jets are unable to trade Richardson, he stays the whole season, plays hard, keeps his mouth shut, and then is willing to sign a reasonable contract, then we might have some room to talk; otherwise, we're just gonna have to agree to disagree. IMO you don't keep 3 players to play 2 positions and pay them all big money. You don't keep a player with bad character traits/issues and who is focused on big money on a young team when you are trying to establish a team culture and identity. The Patriots would never pay him big money or keep him. They'd trade him or let him walk.

Maybe we should offer the Browns the same kind of deal they made with the Texans. We'll take Osweiler and his cap hit off their hands, along with their 2nd round pick next year in exchange for Sheldon Richardson. They'd save $8 million on the cap, get rid of a QB they don't want, free up roster space, and get a young DE/DT who has a good motor who could help them.

it's not a waste if you are keeping young talented players. even if we have a log jam at a position. injuries happen, players play better with less reps, in nickel and dime packages (which is what most defenses play these days anyway because offenses run 3WR+ sets more then base formations) we play all 4 sliding one in at DT. His history isn't that bad. he made a stupid mistake got suspended a few days. life goes on.

as far as wilk yeah it saves "only" 11mil next year which is close to what richardson on a tag would cost anyway and it would save another 32 million over the next 2 seasons as well.

I'm all for "only" keeping 2 of the 3 if we can use the money to improve in other areas "QB, WR, O-line, CB, etc" and we know williams isn't going anywhere, I'm just not sure at this point if keeping wilk over richardson is what's best for the defense. Wilk got injured sadly, got a huge payday regardless, was late to meeting, got sat for it, missed his own b-day party the team threw at him, had reports (I don't believe BTW) of him being out of shape, and played badly last year and looked like he was half assing it. If we trade richardson now especially at low value and he turns out as the perennial pro bowler and wilk never lives up to his contract it'll be a SOJ move of why the franchise is where it's at.

conditional 2nd or 3rd rounder. likely based on sacks. not a bad trade at all. could get a 2nd rounder plus kearse out of it but at worst a 3rd rounder and kearse. Kearse comes in as our number 2 WR likely. I sure hope wilkerson returns to form though

Richardson is going to be a fuckin animal on that Seattle defensive line. That's a hell of a pick up for Seattle. A great DL'men for an average, run of the mill WR

For sure they get the better player but really shelden hsd diminished his value. Also fuck him for putting a kids life at risk with his joy ride

2nd or 3rd for Richardson was worth it for sure. Kearse can make some great catches but follows them up with like 3 drops.

Good trade for both teams, will instantly help Seattle.

How can anyone be upset with this trade? Sheldon wasn't gonna be here next year and had no trade value...shocked we got a 3rd for him.

Wow, that's a damn good deal. The Jets had no leverage here and they parlayed it into a 2nd rounder, a number 3 receiver and simultaneously helped out the tank.

  20. I would've been happy w the conditional pick let alone a decent WR to add to the fold
