Hopkins is also scheduled to meet with the Bucs and Falcons.

It's in the print version of the NY Daily News. I couldn't find it on their web site.

The Jets also may be interested in Falcons LT Kevin Shaffer but there is nothing about a visit being scheduled yet.

If the Jets sign 36 year old Brad Hopkins to play LT does it mean they're going to draft D'Brickashaw with the #4 pick? Let him play RT for a year or two then move him to LT.

If we are looking at signing a 36 year OLman then we are in deeper doo-doo then I thought.

They may just be looking at him as a veteran to provide depthat the tackle spots, seeing as how at the moment we have only Jones and Cavka at tackle.

He's a great OLman, but if you guys sign him, it better be a 2-3 year deal at most.

  6. Hopefully this is purely a depth thing. He is far from the answer to our OL woes.

Plus drafting D'Brick and playing him at RT is a recipe for disaster.

to me that would be a SURE sign that they are staying at #4 and taking D brick. He would be good depth at both tackle spots and would make it so don't HAVE to take D brick in the rare case someone jumps ahead of us.

A big reason they cut Mawae was because he was 35, now they are interested in a 36 year old.

Mawae was cut because he wouldn't jump on the paycut bandwagon. His age had nothing to do with it. If he agreed to cut salary he'd still be with the Jets.

Nope. If he didn't have a history of undermining people and coaches, he would still be here.

I doubt that was the reason they pulled the plug on him, but you never know.

He only saved $1M on the cap. It had nothing to do with salary. Maybe age, but given what Mangini knows about Mawae and what he did with Groh, and how much power he has in that locker room, I'm almost positive that's the reason.

Have to do your homework. Simply finding out what kind of money he'd want and adjust it for a guy like Schaeffer could be the goal of this meeting.
