New York Jets cornerback Trumaine Johnson has been ruled out for the team's Week 5 matchup against the Denver Broncos according to the team's official website. Johnson reportedly suffered a quad injury in practice this week. Originally a third-round pick out of Montana by the then-St. Louis Rams in 2012, Johnson turned into a top-notch corner in his six years with the Rams and played under the franchise tag in both 2016 and 2017. THe Jets signed him to a five-year, $72.5 million free agents contract in March with $34 million in guaranteed money including a $34 million signing bonus. Thus far the team has not received full value for their money as the 28-year-old Johnson has been decent but not great in New York. As a starting cornerback with little depth behind him, however, Johnson will be sorely missed against the Broncos. Whether Broncos QB Case Keenum can take advantage of his absence is questionable, as Keenum leads the league in interceptions and has not thrown a touchdown pass since Week 1. Enunwa described his hip problem as “just playing football.” When asked if he thought it could keep him out, he said, “I don’t think so.”
Coach Rodgers is pretty sick,,,,,did not know about this until today. I think he is a crap coach but I hope he has a speedy recovery from whatever it is as it sounds serious. In Jet news Keenum has looked like crap since week # 1 and can't find the end zone without a map and directions , care to bet me they find it this week ? BTW I don't think Johnson being out is a big thing has anyone watched his play this year ? 70 million dollar waste of money "THE WEAKEST GUY ON THE Rams "
I didn't know who Trumaine Johnson was until the Jets signed him. That's the danger with having as much cap space as the Jets have and having to spend it. They could spend a fortune on a bunch of mediocre players just because a team spends big money on a player that doesn't make him a big money player know what I mean? That's just not how it works and doing so leads to cap hell.
watch more NFL. trumaine has been one of the best in the league for a long time https://theramswire.usatoday.com/20...maine-johnson-cornerback-rankings-stats-2017/
He hasn't made much of a impact here so far (which is why he got the big money). I haven't been impressed with what I've seen from him so far. As much stuff gets said about Skrine I like the guy. That pick he made last week was one of the best plays I've seen. Tough player.
He is an excellent press corner but very mediocre in zone. Of course when the game is on the line we are always in zone lol.
i agree he's got a slow start here but i think rodgers/bowles deserve some blame. if you read the link i sent you he was number 1 in press but only number like 24 in off coverage. we don't let him man up and press enough and have him playing zones and off ball. even on the pass eh was beat deep last week he was 10 yards off the WR. he should have been jamming him at the line. we need to use our best players better. as far as skrine goes, i agree. I like him. he's tough and plays the run well and as a 3rd CB one of the better ones in the league. he just isn't good enough to be a starter but i like him as a nickel back. sadly he cost too much for that role and is making starter money so he's likely gone after this year. i'd take 11 guys with his attitude and motor anyday though
He might have been the BEST Free Agent Corner available but he was pretty bad on the Rams last year in fact other teams went at him for a reason,,,,but what do I know
did you read the link? he was the number 1 CB last year in press coverage and only allowed 42 total yards in the whole season while playing press coverage. thta's pretty impressive
He is a really good player but he stopped trying once he secured his massive bag. He isn't really injured he just doesn't care anymore , we have all seen this before
