Our season, and our playoff chances are NOT over.

Every game for this very young team, is a learning experience. We let the game get away from us on Sunday, and we gave up a bunch of game changing big plays, but that does not negate all the progress that this team has made so far this year. I have confidence in Mangini, Schott the Jr. but greater, and Sutton to use this loss to improve our team. Maybe we looked ahead a little bit.....maybe the team thought that they had "gotten it"...maybe they were too caught up in the playoffs.. whatever it was the whole team came out flat, and did not respond to adversity well. I believe that they will learn from this, and have it drilled into their heads that they need to work even harder when they get in the playoff hunt, and that they cannot take any game lightly. Expect to see a lot of passion, and better play out of the Jets the last 3 games.

Chad is our QB. He wins some games for us. He loses some games for us. But he is our best option in these last three games, and gives us the best chance to win. I doubt he will be the starter next year, but really all that is irrelevant. The Jets need to win the last three games, and I believe, objectively, that they have a good chance of doing that. With Chad at QB. I think he will learn from this game as well.

Our OL had their first subpar performance of the year really in pass blocking. They will fix that, and I believe that Brick Mangold and the rest will rebound hard from this.

Lost in all this was the fact that we were being effective in running the ball. I think we will be fine at RB for the rest of the year with Leon and Cedric.

In terms of the playoffs, I think we took a hit but not a fatal blow Sunday. I think that we have a very realistic chance at the playoffs. Every year in the NFL, there is a similar situation for the wild card spots and everyone is saying that these two teams have it locked up, or that you "may need 11 wins to get in", etc.... This year, it looks like you will need 10 and that Cincy and Jacksonville are guaranteed. But year in and year, it never plays out according to plan, and things tend to break to bunch things up even more before the final week.

The Jets have a shot to get in even if they finish 9-7. It is just the way the NFL is. I would not be shocked if Tennesse or Pittsburgh even went into the final game this season with a playoff berth scenario. If they get to 10-6 I think that they will definitely get in. And at 10-6, the division title is still open. A lot depends on Jacksonville. If they win out, that means they beat NE and a loss to either Houston or Tennessee would mean the 10-6 Jets win the division. If they do not beat NE, then one more loss and they are 9-7. Cincinnati plays Indianapolis Denver and Pittsburgh. They could easily lose 2 of those games. There are a ton of palyoff scenarios for the Jets and there is a reason that you play each game.

I guess my point is that as tough as the loss was to Buffalo (it was brutal) it was NOT the death knell on the Jets season. Lets get behind them and with some solid play down the stretch we could still easily see ourselves in the playoffs. I believe in the players and the staff we have. I am not ready to give up on them. Once the season is over, then we can shoot Chad, and plot our offseason fee agent and draft strategies. Until then lets go J-E-T-S JETS! JETS!! JETS!!!

Good post -very true. If the Jets win out They should make it. I don't think 9-7 will do it this year. However whether the Jets make the playoffs or not, this has still been a surprisingly fun season and we as fans have alot to look foward to with this new coaching staff. All we need are a few more good players.......

Good post, but you have to concede that losing to the Bills at home with a playoff slot up for grabs is demoralizing for Jets fans.

 i'm still trying to understand how the same guy who had two fumbles and two picks ( not clemens or ramsey) is considered our best option to win?

maybe they'll bring in mangold's sister next. she can throw a 10 yard pass and manage the game, too.

The way the NFL works nowadays, with all the upsets lately (Miami over NE and Chicago, for example) you just never know. If the Jets win out, it is very possible that Cinci could lose to Indy and Denver (both road games). Also, Jax has to play on the road which they have struggled mightily this year. We have to care of our own business first and foremost thought. Keeop the faith guys!
