Lol he can be pissed all he wants. If that’s the pick and the Jets ask Becton to move to the right side (a lot of assumptions) he likely would move. A) he’s under contract for 3 more years with the Jets option in the 4th year. B) he seems like a wonderful teammate who’s about winning. Swell is widely viewed as generational type of LT and a potential HOF type talent, he’s that good. Last thing I’m worried about is the Jets having too many good linemen...
Your exactly right he will move and play RT. Just don’t expect the Jets to be able to resign him, and quite possibly he will be holding out in 2 years and forcing a trade just like Adams.
You are likely correct. The disparity in pay between a good LT and a good RT is enormous, almost $5 million per year. Moving Becton to RT is tantamount to pushing him out the door at the end of his rookie deal. That's no way to build stability and sends a bad message to the rest of the team and other players in the league.
The Jets won't draft Sewell if either of them have an issue with playing right tackle. At least I'd hope they don't. I would have to imagine this will be broached with Sewell in the pre-draft process and Becton as well internally.
Stafford reportedly nixed New England as a destination. Not surprising considering they just brought Patricia back. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...stination-prior-to-lions-trading-him-to-rams/ I'm sure Belichick shares a portion of blame as well. For what reason, I do not know.
In that scenario ( we’re really being hypothetical now) we garner another haul of pick and still have a generational LT. Restocking the pantry with multiple #1 picks never hurts. But we do need to keep our own as well... interesting subject for sure
You don't treat players that way imo. I'm not on board with drafting Sewell but I know some are. I've said before if that's the way they're leaning you have TON of communication with Becton and as much as you can with Sewell before you ever make that pick. If they're both cool with it and someone is willing to move, so be it. But saying "sucks to be you, do what we say", picking Sewell, and having Becton possibly leave when he can to get LT money defeats the purpose.
So you put Sewell at RT before he plays a down in the NFL, and ask Sam to play left-handed. There, problem solved.
never forget how bad Sam is... https://jetsxfactor.com/2021/02/03/...ets-wr-denzel-mims-was-targeted-infrequently/
