Which NFL team has the longest way to go in the off-season (based only on players, not coaching staff)?
Lions. They have a terrible offense and a terrible defense. No good players other than Roy Williams, and Shaun Rogers (when he's not a lazy slob and is actually motivated). Atleast the Raiders have a solid defense.
Lions. The Raiders are least a pretty good defensive team. Its easier to overhaul one side of the ball than have to make pretty big changes to both sides.
I wouldn't say Oakland. Their defense is very good. They need an offensive line and a QB (and a coach who isn't mentally retarded), but at least they have one good unit. Their pass defense is great and their run d is above average.
I say Lions because of one man - Millen. This man is to talent and draft evaluation what cancer is to a healthy organism.
The Lions need the most work. They don't have any position settled from what I can tell. No QB, Kevin Jones is up and down in his play, Roy Williams is the only other player I know on their offense. Their defense needs just about every single position. That franchise has no hope for awhile.
I think that Arizona will never be good, everytime they seem to turn the team around the corner they are back at the bottom, they just do not have "it", but I actually voted for Detroit because the Matt Millen curse has them in a perenial shithole
as much as the raiders suck, the lions are worse. at least the raiders have a REALLY GOOD DEFENSE, in the draft theyll get a qb or something, and pick up some good offensive players in the free agent market, but detroit they just plain suck. the franchise is in ruins, with what the stupid gm has done. they dont even have a defense nor offense, theyre a while away from being good again
Tampa. Aging defense that is a year or two away from completely collapsing and not a whit of talent on the offensive side of the ball. At least the Raiders defense is fairly young.
Detroit and Tampa are screwed. Detroit is in huge trouble. Kevin Jones could miss part of next season with the Lisfranc injury. He may never be the same. They don't have much young talent aside from Roy Williams and Ernie Sims. Their best player's future is in question (I refer to Shaun Rogers, of course). Tampa doesn't have a very bright future either. My vote would be for Detroit, especially if Millen continues to keep his job.
I think that was a poem. I say it's Tampa. Oakland and Detroit, while they do suck, have youth. So at least they have the hope of potential. Tampa's only talent is old. They have no O-line, no D-line, and major question marks at every key position.
