Serby Picked the Jets to upset the Pats 23-21. I saw it in the paper this Tuesday.

Yep, here it is, although he gives Mangini a good suggestion for the fight he should show the players this week:

    http://www.nypost.com/seven/01022007/sports/reidem__weep_sports_steve_serby.htm

    Sunday
    JETS at PATRIOTS

    This is a recording:

Coach Mangini: "This is the Jets against the Patriots, not me against Bill at the other place."

Coach Belichick: "This is the Patriots against the Jets, not me against the other guy."

Chad Pennington has been waiting to beat Tom Brady in a big game for a long time, and he'll be snorting fire. The Jets have gotten better since beating the Pats Nov. 12 and as young as they are, enough of them have playoff experience. The Jets will be loosey-goosey while a stressed-out, sleep-deprived Belichick might not bother getting his hooded gray sweatshirt ironed this week. The Jets will play ferociously for Mangini and try to lift him - if that's possible - past his mentor. And Mike Nugent gives Mangini a significant advantage over Stephen Gostowski. Fight suggestion for Mangini: The Thrilla in Manila. Ali lost to Smokin' Joe, then won, then won the rubber match.

    JETS 23, PATRIOTS 21

Does anyone know his record for Jets picks this year?

Serby doesnt know what kind of fan he is. One week hes a giants fan, one week hes a jets fan, and then hes a dolphins fan...he is a typical sports writer who flip flops with whatever the hot team is doing.

Maybe Serby just writes general columns for the Post now. In all honesty, is there any sportswriter who doesnt get bashed on this board?

Im not sure if they count as sports"writers" but the only sports "experts" I can listen to and enjoy are Mike Greenburg and Mike Golic. These guys are class acts and they are totally unbiased. They have a lot of knowledge and are great on the air to listen to.

    Plus, they like the jets

Mike and Mike is the only radio show in NY worth listening to. In fact, they are excellent. the rest are below average to putrid, and that isn;t because Greeny is a Jets fan.... they are pretty even handed in their analysis.

The problem with them is the do 2 hours then repeat everything they did... Other than that they're OK... except for the hacky songs they come up with

Serby picks the Jets or Giants to go to or win the Super bowl almost every year. Then he's appauled when they don't live up to "expectations", when he's the one who was trumping up the expectations in the first place.

In other news, Christmas is traditionally celebrated on December 25th, a square has four right angles, and Scooby Doo was a cartoon dog who solved crimes.

Ever notice that Serby isn't often (or, at all) interviewed on sports radio shows? I have a burning need to hear if he talks in the same goofy way that he writes.

And, I hope that I'm greeted Monday with the opening line of his post-game article: "The Jets flew in to Patriot-land and conducted a revolution of their own. No, they weren't using muskets and cannons, but they traveled into the next round of the playoffs like Washington crossing the Delaware River."
