Jets placed DB Jamie Thompson on injured reserve and signed OL Ed Blanton to the active roster.

While there's no guarantee that Blanton will make the 45 to play on Sunday vs. the Pats, what's the consensus on this board about the roster move:

    1) he was activated in recognition of his hard work on the practice squad
    2) one of our starters/immediate reserve O-lineman just got hurt and may not play now
    3) the gameplan necessitates some heavy formations, so replacing a DB (Thompson) with an O-lineman follows suit
    4) Dave Ball wanted more UCLA representation on the 53-man roster

My guess is that reasons 1-3 are all good possibilities. Although one of our o-lineman isn't hurt they might just be hurting.

my guess is #1.. Mangini loves awarding players who play hard in practice on a consistent basis

My guess is they had an OL with a nagging injury or something and wanted some depth..........

#5: Another team was going to sign him to their active 53, so the Jets either signed him or lost him

6'9", 330 lbs. mammoth of a man. He looks like Jason Fabini if any of you care.
