Stepping back and taking off my Jets colored glasses, I think that this is the most interesting matchup of the weekend. The Pats have the better pedigree, they have infinitely more playoff experience than the Jets, than probably have better overall talent, and the most clutch QB in football. Heck, they are a dynasty. A dynasty slightly on the decline, but a dynasty all the same. But here's the thing: all the pressure in this game is on the PATRIOTS, not the Jets. The Jets with their hiring of Mangini have gotten completely under the Patriots skin. Mangini OUTCOACHED Belly in Foxboro, and the Jets outplayed them. There is huge resentment towards Mangini for leaving. Brady said a couple weeks ago that the Jets were the best team that they played. The Jets just seem to have all the intangibles in this game. NE no longer has that swagger that they can just beat up on us whenever they want. BB is petrified of losing to his protege again. Mangini knows NE better than BB knows the Jets. When you couple that with the fact that the Jets are a better team than the last time they played, it becomes a fascinating match up. It will likely come down to turnovers and a couple of big plays. Most importantly though, the Jets have no pressure on them and have the confidence that they can beat the Pats. I think it will be a great game and the Jets have an excellent chance of beating the Pats again.
You guys are excited about your team and you should be. I remember 1996 when we played the Green bay packers I thought for sure we would win,but there is something to be said for playoff experience If the Jets win I will be happy for Mangini and root for the Jets, after all he is a by product of Belichik,,look how many coaches he has produced what does that say about him..Think about it !!!
The team that wins will be the team that re-invents themselves the best and shows the other team formations and plays they have never seen, and never prepared for. Belicheck is famous for "never bringing the same team twice". And that is Mangini's approach as well. A new team and new game plan for each game. What do the Jets have that NE has not seen? We have a 5'8" super fast no name running back that was NOT featured in either NE game. We have Brad Smith playing in more and more formations. Heck, even I havn't seen much of him. We have game film of Miami destroying NE. We have game film of NY scoring 17 unaswered points to almost tie the first game, plus more footage of Brady getting a mud enima courtesy of the NY Jets in the 2nd game. Jets 17 NE 14
We really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I think for sure we can beat them, and I think if New Englad looks past us they are in for a rude awakening.
No, the terrible - not lousy - Jacksonville team which murdered the Jets was a vastly superior unit in Week 5 compared to its late season iteration.
See the above. And while you're at it, find something a little better than a two and a half month old score. If we're merely going to toss around numbers to decide which of us is correct, here's one for you. JAX: 8-8, eliminated from playoffs. So yea, tell me Jacksonville played the rest of the season in the same mold as the excellent team which crushed the Jets.
Jets can and probably will win the game. The danger is that the run D is weak early on and the Pats sit on the clock with Maroney and Dillon.
