Sounds like Corey Dillon to NE... he's at the end of his career, and possibly has two to three good seasons left in him... better off drafting a running back that we can have for 10 seasons in my opinion.
One more thing: we still have a lot of need at a bunch of different positions in addition to RB, so trading draft picks is, in my opinion, not a good idea at this juncture. I could see doing that in a couple of years, but right now we need to get more young starting caliber position players in here and the best way to do that is through the draft.
YES! man if we get deuce, were almost set. just strengthen the ol a bit, and the defense, are were ready to win the superbowl,
No, this offseason the jets will probably pickup some younger to handle to other 10 carries per game to leon's 20. Barlow, Blaylock, and Houston should be cut this offseason. I like Houston, but he's just too damn injury prone. Maybe draft some type of power back in the 4th or 5th round to take those remaining 10 carries, Leon is our feature back.
You don't trade a 2nd rounder for a 29 year old running back. No way. No way. Fix the OL, and Leon will turn into the next Tiki. We do not need to go elsewhere.
See this is the kind of stuff that is dumb. You're pegging this guy to be that good? Gimmie a break, if Leon can provide half the production Tiki did later in his career for the Giants then you take it. But the next Tiki?
Yes. People are blaming the offensive line, but the fact is that it's actually playing relatively well. With limited carries, Washington is a 600+ yard rusher with a 4.3 average. Good backs can do well with this line, and the reason why Barlow and Houston have not is because they are poor and limited backs, respectively. Acquire a rusher, while upgrading one or both positions on the right side - even one will do - and you'll have a 1200 yard back.
I think if Houston can stay healthy with Leon they would be a great 1-2 punch. I would def release Blaylock because he has been pathetic as a Jet and the only thing Barlow is good at is setting up the Jets for 2nd and 14.
I'd do it for a 3rd round pick. Probably not a 2nd, though. 250 carries for McAllister, 150 for Washington. Would be a good combo.
What we need is a fresh new face at running back someone who hasn't been in the league getting banged up and we all sit and really on him to save our franchise. if we go to the draft get a back thas capable of handling the work load ill be satisfied. when players come from other teams to the jets they never seem to pan out even though they might have been the man on there former team.
there's no way deuce is worth a 2nd round pick. at best, he's a 4th. RB's in the league almost always are done by 30. he'll get us 2 years of decent service. in comparison, a 2nd round pick has about a 50/50 chance of getting you at least 5 years of good service. now if we can get turner for a 2nd, i'd do it. he's only 24. in any case, our problem isn't at RB. it's our RT. i know we drafted two last year, but another one wouldn't be a bad thing in this upcoming draft. we have talent, we just need them to develop more. Brick needs to become more of a masher.
what about houston? agree with everything, but houston seems like such a hard runner, it would be a shame to not get him carries...i'd rather see houston pick up those 100 or so carries, with washington used sparingly as a 3rd down, passing situation back, like a kevin faulk type...i could see him catching 40+ passes a year to go along with about 50 or so carries
