I am extremely excited about the players the Jets' CS will get to work with for the Sr. Bowl. I think DB is the only position group that is a little lacking; otherwise, there are a lot of good-great prospects at positions of need for our CS to get a chance to evaluate. The TE group is flat out amazing. In comparing the two rosters, I am shocked because it appears to me that the Jets CS has the far superior roster with which to work. If the National Team loses the game, then I think we have to seriously question the ability of our CS. I have bolded the ones who I think are the best prospects. Baylor Jalen Pitre DB Cincinnati Coby Bryant DB Fayetteville State Joshua Williams DB Penn State Tariq Castro-Fields DB Pittsburgh Damarri Mathis DB Washington State Jaylen Watson DB Ouachita Baptist Gregory Junior DB Baylor JT Woods DB Illinois Joseph Kerby DB Cincinnati Myjai Sanders DL Connecticut Travis Jones DL Houston Logan Hall DL Miami (Ohio) Dominique Robinson DL Minnesota Boye Mafe DL Ohio State Haskell Garrett DL Ohio State Tyreke Smith DL Oklahoma Perrion Winfrey DL Oklahoma Isaiah Thomas DL Penn State Arnold Ebiketie DL Minnesota Esezi Otomewo DL UCLA Otito Ogbonnia DL Oklahoma Jeremiah Hall FB Baylor Terrel Bernard LB Cincinnati Darrian Beavers LB Iowa State Mike Rose LB Penn State Jesse Luketa LB Utah Devin Lloyd LB Miami (Ohio) Sterling Weatherford LB Wyoming Chad Muma LB Oklahoma Brian Asamoah II LB Montana State Troy Andersen LB Pittsburgh Cal Adomitis LS Boston College Zion Johnson OL Central Michigan Bernhard Raimann OL Fordham Nick Zakelj OL Michigan Andrew Stueber OL Minnesota Daniel Faalele OL North Dakota Matt Waletzko OL Northern Iowa Trevor Penning OL Oklahoma Marquis Hayes OL Washington State Abraham Lucas OL UT-Chattanooga Cole Strange OL Central Michigan Luke Goedeke OL Southern University Ja'Tyre Carter OL Iowa State Andrew Mevis PK Penn State Jordan Stout PT Cincinnati Desmond Ridder QB Pittsburgh Kenny Pickett QB Nevada Carson Strong QB Arizona State Rachaad White RB Michigan Hassan Haskins RB Missouri Tyler Badie RB Baylor Abram Smith RB Cincinnati Jerome Ford RB Colorado State Trey McBride TE Iowa State Charlie Kolar TE Nevada Cole Turner TE Ohio State Jeremy Ruckert TE Wisconsin Jake Ferguson TE Boise State Khalil Shakir WR Cincinnati Alec Pierce WR Nevada Romeo Doubs WR North Dakota State Christian Watson WR Penn State Jahan Dotson WR Rutgers Bo Melton WR
Early last season, I would have said definitely yes, but now I would say no, or at least there is some hope that we wouldn't. Hopefully, MLF learned his lessons. Hopefully, MLF will have the QBs putting on such a display that one or more will rise up the draft boards and help push prospects down to us. I am going to be very curious to see how they handle the offense and defense. For certain, they won't be installing the ones they used with the Jets.
We don’t want to do that. We want him and Carson Strong to look incredible so everyone wants to trade up to our spot(s) to get them. It’s a weirdly loaded roster this year on both sides IMO. Should be exciting to see who shines.
I’m pumped about this roster for the Jets. LB’s Devin Lloyd, Chad Muma and Brian Asamoah TE’s Jeremy Ruckert, Trey McBride, Charlie Kolar WR Jahan Dotson G Zion Johnson These are the ones I’m happiest about the Jets getting hands on experience with, especially Lloyd and the TE’s
I agree with this group, but less so Dotson, as he is just too short/small imo for us to seriously consider imo, even though he is a great prospect. To your group I would add Romeo Doubs (a real playmaker, fast and 6'2"), Arnold Ebikitie (Edge), Bernhard Raimann and Trevor Penning (OL), Troy Andersen at LB, Myjai Sanders and Logan Hall (Edge), Tyler Badie, Jerome Ford, Abram Smith and Hassan Haskins (RB). If we miss out on Burks, Doubs could be a great add at WR. Ebikitie, Sanders and Hall are good-excellent prospects for development at Edge. Andersen is a sleeper at LB. All 4 RBs may be at least a good, if not great fit in our offense. The only one I have some questions about is Haskins, but I really like what I've seen of him. Ford is blazing fast and perfect for a zone blocking scheme as is Badie. Smith is also a great fit, and could be the FB type the offense needs. If the Jets are thinking about adding a developmental OT, Raimann and Penning are two players at whom they should take a close look.
Notice you took four of the five tight ends; anything in particular that kept you off Ferguson? Saw an nfl.com piece that listed him as one of the ten guys there who will surprise.
I debated on him. I haven't seen enough film to rate him as high as the others, and based on what I've read, he's not as good a prospect as the others, hence he's listed as someone who will "surprise." If he does surprise, great. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised, than unplasantly surprised and disappointed.
I think the Jets could easily wind up drafting between 2-4 of these guys. If McBride is still there at our pick at the top of round 2, I think they take him. If Thibodeaux doesn't fall to us at #4, then Ebikitie could be the pick at Carolina's pick in the 2nd round. Devin Lloyd could be one of our first two picks, or one of the others could be in the 2nd or 3rd round. I think there's an excellent chance that one of the RBs will be taken by the Jets in round 4 or 5. Zion Johnson could also be taken with one of our 2nd round picks. If JD is able to trade down and add an additional 2nd round pick, then McBride, Johnson, and Ebikitie could all be taken by the Jets in the 2nd round. If the Jets think they need to add an OT, and don't take Neal or Ekwonu at #4, then Penning or Raimann could be taken with one of the picks in the 2nd round.
Following are some interesting Sr. Bowl stats. The Reese's Senior Bowl has had 106 total players and 36 selected in the first three rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft. The 106 figure represents 41% of the total draft. In 2019, the Senior Bowl showcased 93 total players that went on to be drafted, including 10 first-round picks and 40 in the first three rounds. Throughout its history, the Senior Bowl has produced over 55 players that went on to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Each year, the Senior Bowl rosters feature the nation's top senior collegiate football players and NFL draft prospects on teams representing the National and American. Only college seniors and fourth-year junior graduates are eligible for the game.
