He’ll be in the booth for a year before he goes and coaches the Cowboys. It’s time for the Saints to blow that roster up.
The Cowboys will have to give up picks if that’s the case as he’s still under contract. First and third I’d imagine.
If he really does want to step away for a year to recharge, it will be a very uncomfortable year for Mike McCarthy, since winning the Super Bowl would probably be the only thing that would allow him to keep his job. Not sure if Jerry would want to give up the picks to get him now, though.
Giants? Maybe the new GM hire would prevent him from coming. Giants would have to provide compensation, but would probably do it. I would. One year too late.
He's going no where but the cowboys. Him and Jerry been trying to get this ride started for a few years at least. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Can we trade Saleh and Ulbricht (2) for 1 Mr. S Payton ??? Lol If the Cowboys replace MCCarthy sooner and get Peyton they will go all the way to Lombardi Trophy It's almost a lock with a genius coach like that
Jameis Winston described playing for Sean Payton like going to Harvard for Quarterbacking. That’s something we need so badly. Woody is sitting on his hands like a doofus though
Payton would be in very high demand, and our reputation precedes us. If he's coming to NY it's for the other team, not us. And, as others have pointed out, he lives in Dallas, and has a relationship with the Joneses. We can pick this conversation back up a year from depending on the situation.
Payton isn't coming here. Forget that pipe dream. Kind of bothers me that he's just quitting on the Saints now. He's an excet coach but personally I thinks he's a cunt @K'OB
It just goes to show you it is not all about the coach. I don't care how good the coach is if you do not have the players you will not win in the NFL. The Saints are facing another rebuild and Payton does not have the patience for a few losing seasons especially since he does not have a QB to build around.
It really depends on the route that Mickey Loomis takes. If they keep most of the roster intact for next year they can probably make the playoffs and be a one and done with Jameis or some stopgap quarterback. That defense is seriously good and I can’t imagine they let Dennis Allen get away from them. As far as long term - it’s going to be ugly. They have three players who signed $96 million or more contracts and they’re relatively stuck with all three (Michael Thomas, Ramczyk and Lattimore). I’m sure they can get creative with trading and restructuring them but they can’t be cut. They also have Kamara making $15 million, and Cameron Jordan making $17.5 million. That’s pretty much half their cap space tied up into five players.
