I'm very bullish on the Jets' prospects this year. I really believe that the playoffs are a possibility. In light of that, I would hate for our offensive tackle injuries to derail our chances. I'm thinking JD should start calling teams that are falling out of it already for potential tackle help. Giving up a mid round pick would be a reasonable price to pay to sure up our team's most obvious shortcoming. Thoughts?
No. Were winning nothing this year and have 3 tackles under contract for next year. Mid round picks wouldn't bring much talent in from another team. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Stand Pat. We have guys who can play the position now. We're winning with the temp-line so even though it could be better, leave it alone. We're 1/4 of the way thru the season so bringing in a new guy to learn the system would be a huge mistake on JD's part.
Agreed. Zero reason to do this. The makeshift line has proven to be surprisingly competent. Keep rolling with what we have.
Guys, don't be so closed minded. If someone can shake free or be had for a reasonable price, grab him. Becton is a waste, do not ever count on anything ever again from him so if you can get a perennial starting OG or OT for say a 3 or 4, you do it.
I just think there's a better option out there. I'm uncomfortable with how poorly protected Zack looks at times. It can't hurt for JD to sound out teams that are already at 4 losses.
Only thing that makes me disagree is the fact that none of these tackles are out for the season, Brown already returned and looked good today, and Max and Fant should be back in a few weeks, so it's not like reinforcements aren't already on the way. Also AVT is so versatile the line didn't even look that bad today and Hall had his best rushing day of the year so far
I think the line will get better with time. I also don't think we can find a guard impactful enough to warrant trading anything away. We have tackles coming back
This isn’t the MLB where you add middle relief just to get in to the tournament. Keep the picks and build the roster out to hopefully push for the division next year.
You gotta remember, Fant and Mitchell should be back in a few weeks. You trade for someone, takes them a few weeks to learn the system, and by then you have your two tackles back. I think we stay put. True, our interior is suffering now with Laken stinking and AVT playing Tackle, but overall line is not terrible. Laken seemed to have played a little better today, hopefully he will be back to his usual form soon too. Plus the two tackles we signed should be coming up to speed soon. I think we gotta ride it out at this point.
I'm starting believe that with just a little more agility training AVT could probably play 2 positions at the same time, freeing up another guy to catch passes. Also now a member of the Duane Brown fan club. He could have just cashed it in and gone on IR for the year with surgery and instead he's out there on his own volition wearing a brace/harness leading the younger troops at age 37. I mean... thats just awesome.
There was also a play where he was hustling downfield to lay a block on a defender. It must have been ten yards downfield and right on the sideline if I remember correctly. I remember thinking, wow, this guy is really putting some effort it.
