He played well yesterday and the Pats D is pretty good, right? The lousy Charger D was 11 th in PA in 2004. They gave up 34 at Indy in the reg season and in the reg season Chad led us to 34 points- those were the only bad performances of the year by that D. They gave up 313 pts that year and 303 this year.
No, he didn't play well yesterday. The Chargers D in 04 was 31st in passing yards allowed and 19th in passing YPA allowed they were 3rd/6th against the run. When I'm talking about Pennington and the defenses he's facing I think its implied I'm referring to the pass D but sorry for not being clear.
Chad played very well yesterday, we had no running game except for 1 play and that D was all over him from the 1st snap on. The screen pass was the lone mistake. SD was 11th in points allowed, the only games they played poorly were vs. NYJ and at Indy and Chad led the Jets to as many pts at SD as Manning did at home.
The INT returned for a TD? I was talking about the playoff game, but I suppose it doesn't matter. SD's pass D was lousy that year, end of story.
Of course they were trying to score but under 5 mins left needing 2 TDs w/ 2 TOs left was going to be near impossible to come back from especially when NE can sit back and know we are throwing every single play.
He took mostly good chances (except for the onsides kick against the Bears) this year and got burned on a lot of them both by the results and the media. That'll change a coaches attitude in a hurry. There's a reason that all coaches punt on 4th and 1 from their 40 onward even though it's actually a losing move.
