Here's a quote from Kevan Barlow today: "I know I can play in this league. I really want to come back and play for a coach like Eric Mangini. He's going to be a great coach in this league and I want to be a part of it. He treated me great. I not only loved playing for him but I also liked him as a person. He's very sincere, very genuine. He's a man of his word." http://www.nj.com/jets/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1168579909167270.xml&coll=1 This Coach gets me PUMPED! The Mangenius IS the IDENTITY of the Jets. More so than any player. Only way back in 1997 was the coach bigger than the team. When u thought Jets you thought Parcells. Now, it has happened again. You talk Jets---You talk MANGINI! He IS the face of the Jets. ( i really am tempted to honor the mangini by putting his name on a jet jersey. seems silly, but i'm tempted.)
hmmm, that's the snag. #1 is the nuge. i was thinking 00. ( of course, i'd have my wife sew a penguin decal on it somewhere!
Not a silly idea at all, IMO. Well, perhaps it's too early to make comparisons between Mangini and Parcells; after all, Parcells has been HC in a few SB's. But I'll tell you something (and I've been a Jets fan for a very, very long time). As excited as I was when BP came to the Jets, I think I'm even more excited now. When Parcells came on board, always, in the back of my mind, I thought that he'd leave the team in some way... leave us flat even, or in some way put himself first as he had seemed to do with the Giants. And I'll be darned if that didn't turn out to be the case with us too. He was going to "get out of coaching," remember? He had some other lame excuse when he left the Giants as well. With Mangini, I think we have a higher quality guy, a guy who will be here a good number of years and who really wanted the job in the first place and is willing to stick it out and see how far he can take us. Parcells often talks the talk and then walks out the door. One only has to look no further than this season again with him, where he remains "undecided" with Jerry Jones, but behind Jones' back he's soliciting the GM job with the Giants, who flat-out refused him probably because of his past propensities to love 'em and leave 'em. So yes, I'd have to say I like having Mangini here more than I liked having BP here. Mangini doesn't have the head coach's SB ring on his finger, but I think the guy brings a ton more sincerity, loyalty and willingness to stick it out with this team and get us to the SB.
That's quite a compliment from someone who called his last coach Hitler. On the other hand, this may just be Barlow pleading for another chance, which he shouldn't get.
I was going to say that ,when a player say"I think I can play in this league its usally time to hang them up!
Blaylock is first on the chopping block. If the Jets bring in another RB through free agency or the draft, Barlow should be next.
Not to be corny or anything, but on my way into work today I thought about having a Mangini jersey made also... But belive it or not, my hold up was the number... maybe 35 for his age?
Awww Barlow. Sorry guy but you gotta go. I don't feel the same way about him that I did about Conway though. I'm glad we had his help.
thats exactly how I felt when Parcells was here...."yeah this is great but when is it going to end" kinda like a kid in gym class....Id always be looking at the clock to see when gym was gonna be over and I had to go to math or some shit
