I'm still seeing nothing that makes me think that they won't have an interesting decision to make around the trade deadline regarding Alonso - it's hard to imagine that they won't be well out of any playoff possibilities by then.

Is Edwin Diaz serious? You had a 4 run cushion. Then his pointing to the sky like it's a pop up! NO!!!! IT'S A HR! Drives me crazy!

Four blown saves in 5 attmpts. Diaz is clearly not the pitcher he was 2 seasons ago and is costing games. Fastball is down 3-4 mph, and his slider hangs. He's pitching batting practice out there and probably should've been on rehab assignment.

The best thing they can do now is adjust his role to middle relief, an inning here, an inning there to take some of the pressure off, and see if he returns to form.

I wish it were possible to trade Lindor.

Another brilliant managing job for Mendoza, leaving Garrett in to blow a four-run lead in the 8th.

Mets are in line to have their third straight game with three home runs in which they lose all three games, something they have never done in their 63 years of existence.

Giants try hard to give the game away, and then a miracle defensive play prevents them from tying it up in the bottom of the ninth. Mets become the fifth team in history to lose three straight games in which they hit three home runs. They've now lost 21 of their last 30 games.

The Rangers won so I'm happy, however, after hockey season, what do I have to look forward to?

What do you guys think as we get closer to the trade deadline(if we're completely out of it)? Should they have another fire sale with the vets? You have to try and shop Alonso, McNeil, Lindor(good luck), Diaz......

Mendoza the genius puts in Diaz in a one-run save situation in a game the Mets HAVE to have, and of course Diaz blows the save. Then Alonso fails at bat in the 9th (team is 0-for-11 with RISP) and in the field in the 10th, the bullpen fails, and another loss goes in the books.

Totally irrelevant for the Mets, but big news for the Braves and Phillies - Ronald Acuna Jr has a complete tear of the ACL in his left knee and is out for the season. He tore the ACL in his right knee in 2021, and didn't really recover until 2023, which suggests that we won't see the "real" Acuna again until 2026 (if ever). Presumably the Mets are hoping that weak knees don't run in the family (although so far little bro Acuna hasn't shown much in the minors other than stealing bases).

Barring something like a season-ending injury for Bryce Harper, it's hard to see the Phillies not running away with the division at this point.

Hey, Diaz didn't blow the save in the 9th inning in Game 1 of the doubleheader! Oh, Ottavino did.

And once again, fundamentals kill this team. Hudson has just walked the bases loaded with the score tied and 1 out in the bottom of the 9th, and Taylor works the count to 3-and-0. Hudson throws a strike, and Taylor takes it, as he should. Anyone who knows anything about baseball knows that the next pitch is the one to hit. Hudson throws it down the middle, and Taylor just watches it go by. Next pitch, there's a pop-up, followed by another one. Dodgers score three runs in the top of the 10th, and it's another blown game in the books.

It sounded like he was talking about himself to me, but Steve asked for clarification. he’s probably a goner?

Edwin Diaz has been placed on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder impingement.

Pete left early after a hit pitch. Mendoza says that Pete Alonso's X-rays came back "normal" and the team will wait on the result of a CT scan

What a gutless POS. He's completely unprofessional, and acts like he's too good for team? They're perfect for each other - they both suck.

Having said that, if they don't release him, they're basically acknowledging that Mendoza has already completely lost the team, and they're okay with that.

My son got me Mets/Nats tickets for my birthday(back in late April when they weren't so bad) for this coming Monday. At least I get to check out Nationals Park.
