What if the Jets hire him as a consultant? Here are the Pros: He likes NY, He loves going to Saratoga for the races, so he'll be able go to the races no problem. He still gets paid Mangini and Tanny get to learn from one of the best. I dont know, I just always liked the way he drafted. Having Bradway and Parcells in the war room would be awesome. Bradway has a thing for college kids and knows how to evaluate and Parcells drafts well too... I dont know just a hypothetical statement.
I think Parcells does draft good players and would like for him to be with the franchise in some sense if he wants to do it.
Mangini says Parcells was "outstanding" in terms of being reachable and ready to help with any questions during the season. I don't see why this would change because Parcells retired.
if the Tuna had drafted Steven Jackson instead of julius jones he might still be in Dallas....ps..get ready for junc to rip you about parcells drafting history(yawn)
I loved when Parcells coached the Jets. I hated how he left, and that he left the job undone. He's finished, and should have retired like he told us...and I don't want him as part of our new organization. Time to graze in the Pastures for the Tuna...
why would we try to get back what we once had thas our problem sometimes once the ship has left the port we need to keep sailing til we hit our next destination. bill parcells a great coach but at times he gets in his iffy moods where he dont know where he wants to be up or down in or out so just let him ride off into the sunset.
If it aint broke, don't fix it. All Parcells could do is screw up a situation that has done just fine without him so far.
Why? Tanny did great in last years draft. Mangini did a great job as coach. I find it hard to see Parcells taking any low profile position. If he comes in it is all about him. As a previous poster said "if it ain't broke...."
Parcells was the best thing for the Jets in 97. He had the credentials, ego and personality to rid this team of the stench of league doormats and to remove the same old jets mentality. He did just that and almost brought us to the promised land in 98. That ship has sailed now, and we are in the hands of a good management team to take us to the next level. Enjoy the horses Bill....
Parcells is a quitter, he just doesn't have it in him anymore. Maybe as a consultant or scout, but that would be all i would want him for. I think hes done this time
I thank Parcells for all he did while he was here but....no....just....no! All that would do is undermine Mangini's authority and power within the organization.
Look at his drafts from '97-'99, some of the worst in history. he had a good '00 draft b/c Groh was involved. he also signed players to disastrous contracts that put us in cap hell. i love BP for turning us around but his time has come and gone.
I think there is a thread started for anyone that becomes available in one way or another that we should get, no matter thier age, status player or coach. Especially if they have any past with the team.
