And how long do you expect Aaron Glenn to be here? Its a GM's job to build a team. Typical NYJ questionable scenario-- guy retires right after draft and we could have gotten a possible backup with maybe starting creds in rd 4. Holy shit.
Of course a 5th round pick is likely to fail anyway, but what I hated about JD is that he NEVER could get good players with any picks below very top of the second round. Once you leave the top of the second, that's it! His probability of success is significantly worse than that of a blind man pointing at a random draft board for a selection. You could literally print out some random draft guide with draft prospects, close your eyes and randomly stick your finger at a printout, and you will do MUCH better than JD did past top of the second round.
The problem is that most draft for other teams have same result, it only looks bad because we see it on the field. If we were fans of another team their picks would look the same. Hit on some good ones and whiff on others.
Which ones did JD hit on though after top of the second? Michael Carter, anyone else? He was well below average there, probably the worst in the NFL.
Feel bad for the kid. It definitely became sus when the jets gave zero update on him basically his entire tenure.
get over it, hes gone, he was a cancer. if your such a big fan go watch that idiot he appears with all the time.
Bryce Hall was a good pick up, played well and then they fazed him out for some reason. Brendon Echols as well. Michael Carter2 who you mentioned. Seems he was decent at picking CBs lol
Hall is a minimum level player. Echols is somewhat above that. Carter is sold. That's simply not enough given how many draft he had and the capital he spent. His best 3d round pick investment in 6 opportunities was trading for Adams for 3/4 of a year. Just an awful evaluator not matter how you slice this. To have so many picks and has this high a failure rate once it gets a little past top of the second is terrible. It's quite a bit worse than just picking guys randomly.
When he was drafted people here were making it like he was our next franchise Qb, just more proof how dumb this organization is and how incompetent the medical staff that penny pinching fool Woody hired is.
I wasn't defending him or saying it was enough, just putting 3 names out there Hall, people were raving about as a bargain after his first season. Echols was very solid. Also, he got Huff as an udfa. But at the end of the day his time is over, it is over because it was unsuccessful. We move on and hope the next lot are better. Travis could have retired before the draft, I'd say they already knew tbh and just didn't fancy any of the QBs in the draft. Next year is a good one, especially if you get the #1 pick as I'd say you'll need that for Manning
I am Cuse alum and huge Cuse fan. Watched McCord play almost every week. The kid is very good, I dont care how they had him rated. If DiVito (he stunk at Syracuse and transferred out after he lost his starting job) can make a pro roster, so can this kid - easily. He is the best I have ever seen at the collegiate level on the back shoulder pass. He sees the field well and he processes quickly. He totally excelled except for the Pitt nightmare game. Only time he lost his cool. He lead Cuse to a big upset over Miami and Ward. I dont know if he can star at the next level, but he certainly can play at the next level. Mark it down.
