I wonder where you were when I was taking a beating in below thread. https://forums.theganggreen.com/thr...ember-december-to-ruin-draft-position.101144/ Kidding aside well said. I love wins when they are part of a strategy but wins in a lost season hurts a team more than anything else. Last 10 years, Jets are the wors team in win totals but never had the top pick. During this time Jets lost T.Lawrence, Drake Maye and now Mendoza which impressed me more than he did during the regular season. Now I am not too stressed. 2026 schedule is brutal and we have Glenn as HC who will lose games to superior competition. At least we have 3 first rounders next year so we still have a great shot in landing a great QB next year.
For you guys who have spent a lot of time watching all these QBs in guys in college who do you believe, other then Mendoza, has the highest NFL floor of any of the declared options? My positive outlook needs something to latch on to today.
For the risk of being accused of being a Moore rep or rigid or whatever else I will be called for not being out on Moore with #2 pick completely, why did it look like he folded? Yes, pick 6 was bad, no argument there. I saw Mendoza having a similar pick against Ohio st (which has similarly good defense as Indy) on a screen pass on 25 yard line, which led to Ohio St only TD. Btw, that was the ONLY TD Sayin, who was #4 in Heisman, could score. Their defense only allowed 1 FGs otherwise (though there was 1 missed FG). And Mendoza himself only scored 1 TD and 2 FGs (13 pts) against similar defense as his own. Oregon defense was Swiss cheese, they gave up 42 points even aside from the 14 points that the offense basically gave up. The other 7 was 100% on RB, this is not about pocket presence. Even the commentators said this was a 3d string RB. who was in the wrong place. It's just not fair to blame it on Moore. What it looked like to me is that Moore faced top defense, and it was very hard like for any top prospect playing against top defense. But he battled, made mistakes and also made some good plays. Indiana did not give an inch even at the end, again the commentators mentioned it too. Sai they should play softer to make them waste more clock but are not doing it. You have to factor level of opposition. I don't think he folded. And again, he started 15 games this season. This is one of them, I think we need to consider overall body of work. With all that said, this does change my opinion on him some. He is certainly not in consideration for #1, and it is not so obvious now he should be #2. I think he still might be in the consideration for #2 and ultimately I feel he will go top 5 in the draft if he declares. Probably #2, to us or someone would trade up. I just don't want to overreact to this game, which I think was not terrible from the QB evaluation perspective.
Nussmeier from LSU probably. His tape is meh this year but his tape from last year is really good. Trinidad feels like that guy but he has such limited D1 experience he’s a very risky prospect despite the fact that he does not turn the ball over or take sacks (fast processor). He’s in a very QB friendly system too which makes it harder to analyze. Dart came from it after having a lot of success but so did Matt Corral.
JV. Never watched Dart in College. I only watched his 2 games but wasn't that impressed. Are we having a Giants fan exaggeration or Dart is really good enough to make it to the playoffs?
I think he was a decent prospect but I wasn’t big on him. @Rockinz seems to have a good beat on these guys. He’s correctly called Nix and now Dart so far. He’s the guy to ask.
I’d trade back 10-12 spots if that means another second this year or something. We need so many players man.
Your status reads "Well Known Member" . I say I change it to "College QB Guru" What do you say? Huge respect by the way.
Wow, that IS pretty impressive. How did you figure Allen was going to be good? A lot of the same things we are seeing now with some of talented prospects but lesser production and school. What about 2021 draft? And also what do you think about Kyle McCord, I think you liked him before even as early in round 2? He is on Philly PS, but could probably be had just by signing him to active roster. I understand no one has a perfect record, but if you called Allen, Nix, and Dart as good round 1 picks, this may be better than most of the supposed professional analysts.
My honest opinion is that GMs get pigeon holed into going with the consensus or they will look like a fool if they are wrong. I take the approach of Ron Wolf. Trust your eyes. Especially with quarterbacks. I got nothing to loose posting on a Jets forum analyzing QBs for fun and the love of the game. Also to get intel on what’s working at the NCAA level for my kids at the high school level looking at film.
Allen had that ability to make plays on the run and had elite arm strength. Plus his size and athleticism. Everyone screamed about is inaccurate stats but if you actually watched his tape he hit so many guys in the hands that at the pro level those balls get caught.
You know who else got it right on Allen? Bart Scott ! He was talking about how of all the 2018 guys, Allen was the one he was most excited about.
