Yo Rockinz, how about an eval on some of the lesser QB options for '26 now that Moore has played himself back to school.
I’d take a flyer on McCord for sure. Especially now that he’s sat and watched. However, McKee is also an interesting prospect I like on Philly a lot. If I were Moug I’d be all over trying to get McKee here and giving him a shot over drafting an inexperienced kid and expecting him to win games in NY.
Ya I’m going to look at Beck and Trinidad this week. I saw a lot of Beck at Georgia (full games) and have a decent idea of my analysis on him just need to review his Miami tape. Trinidad had injuries so the sample size isn’t huge but I’ll see what the film shows.
What is he saying about this years QB's? Didn't listen to him lately as I don't commute much and don't listen to sports radio outside my car.
If he declares, yes he will go high in the draft because, right or wrong, QBs always do. While I don’t watch a lot of college ball to be honest, I do like to watch the playoffs and big games. I am a big believer in Great players show up great in big games…and I also believe that not very good players fold in big games. Not the be all end all of course, and I won’t base a player evaluation on just one or two games, so I’ll be the first to say I don’t have a strong confident opinion on how good a prospect Moore will be. But what I DO feel confident in is saying that if we take him at #2 overall, it will be a disaster for this team with this coach. This kid has talent but is raw. This game was too big for him. And the defenses in the NFL are all better. Bigger. Stronger. Faster. More complex. The competition level will be HIGHER than what flumuxed him in this game. It’s no shame to say he’s young and he just needs more experience. He’s not ready. For a team who has good coaching and can afford to bring him along slowly (Rams, Vikings, 49ers, Packers all come to mind as GREAT spots for him), I think it’d be worth it to take him and let him sit a year. Of those teams, the Rams (Stafford getting old) and Vikings (let’s call a spade a spade and just admit McCarthy is not the guy) make a lot of sense. The Niners and Packers less so because they have good young QBs, but they also can take a guy, develop, and trade…the Packers under Favre did this a lot and were able to trade guys out for picks. But the main thing is those teams have very good offensive coaching and know how to develop a QB, and have zero pressure to draft a kid and throw him out there before he’s ready. That’s not us. We have shit coaching…remember, THIS coaching staff took a bad QB in Fields and somehow coached him to his WORST season ever, and basically made him unplayable. THIS coaching staff is going to lose a bunch more games next year and the seat will get hotter for AG. There would be a tremendous amount of pressure to throw a kid like Moore out there to at least “see what he can do”. We’ve all seen this movie before, and I can confidently tell you exactly what “this kid can do”. He will be terrible here. He will not be able to rise above the shit coaching and the pressure will be high. We would break him. Now, if Mougey is smart enough to say, go out and sign or trade for a good vet … and my choice has been a guy like Davis Mills even if we have to trade for him (I want ZERO to do with a guy like Kyler Murray, I want ZERO to do with a douche like Mac Jones), and then take Moore and really let him sit for the year, I could see something like that. But honestly if we take him, there will just be too much pressure to play him, and I have ZERO confidence we can coach him up. Drafting Moore at #2 overall would be a huge mistake for this team.
Why the Jets always miss on the top QB available in a draft class? Maybe they should stop focusing on trying to find the elusive franchise/saviour QB and maybe build a powerhouse at other position and eventually they get a late pick QB/free agent QB that can do the job? Trade down often, collect as many assets as possible and get depth everywhere?
I think they need to get a solid veteran AND draft a QB to develop. Ideal scenario is they sign someone like Willis and let Moore incubate on the bench for 1-2 years. Good chance neither of those 2 things happen but that would be a realistic best case to me.
I brought up McKee before as my #1 target for free agent/trade. Small sample size, but I was very impressed with him when he got a chance in regular season and also preseason. Plus the fact Roseman was very confident in him as #2 and traded away Pickett by itself says a lot. What Roseman likes to do though is stay ahead of the game and get something for a player he cannot retain, who will be a FA a year from now. That's McKee. Which is why he will definitely be available, I just don't know the price. It will probably by 3d or 4th. If we can give 4th and even add a 7th or something, I would be good with it, but not sure if this is enough. And if McCord is Dart level prospect as you say, maybe that's the plan all along, get some assets for McKee and put McCord in the pipeline as the next one. My ideal scenario would still be to trade mid round asset for McKee and draft Dante. I understand people are down on him, but I have seen some really high end stuff there. Floor us lower, yes, but with a guy like McKee we could sit Dante for some time and then play him at some point later. This would also maximize the probability of getting a good long term QB. I hear your point about the coaching, and hell I made that point myself as much as everyone else, but I don't think we will ruin Dante in one year with the OL and weapons we have, and Glenn will hopefully be gone in 2027. I also hope they find some decent QB coaches this offseason. What did you think about Zach Wilson? He fooled almost everyone 5 years ago... I don't think Moore is Zach all over again, but wondering if Zach fooled you as well.
The bolded part is what I am hoping for. We need a long term solution at the QB. This may be the ONLY positive we can do this year. Guys like Dante will not last on the draft board too long. Take a look at this: https://x.com/NFL_DF/status/2010030115728830680 -I don't think it is Dante's every throw in that game, but large chunk, including all the negative plays. Look at 0:51. Goes through 3 reads, then pressured, and runs to the right, throws on the run from his own 15 to 52 yard line on the opposite hash, while getting absolutely drilled by a defender. The guy he throws to is covered by two players but he puts it outside the field, where only he can get it. It is not an easy catch, but it is a catchable ball, and if you slow it down it goes through WR's extended arms. This is big time. - Look at 1:15, he is about 6 yards in the endzone, again absolutely hammered by a defender, throws a strike to the left hash on 47 yard line. WR makes a great catch. - 1:29, again absolutely drilled, throws from 15 to 30 on the opposite hash. - Check 1:45, two plays in a row, 1st one a huge bomb on the opposite hash to the left 45-50 yards, that goes through WR hands, a hard catch I know with DB right on him but that is a dot. - The very next play, goes through two reads, pressured almost immediately on the right side, escapes, looks up the field, nothing there, sees a guy on the right, throws while getting hammered AGAIN to the right sideline. Another catchable ball where only WR can get it on the right hash. Tough catch, sure, but it's a great throw and processing, escapability, and also while hit again. That was "garbage time" defense? Absolutely not, they were playing to kill, up a lot or not, they did not care, they were going after him. Anyway, after seeing more of the tape, I don't think Dante shit the bed at all. What happened was that he went against #2 defense, got very little help from OL, running game, and defense, and even WRs could have done a bit better too, and he himself made some mistakes, including huge one in pick 6. Oregon really took turns fucking up. But overall this was not something I look at and say, I am not taking the guy as #2 anymore after watching all his games and thinking he can go #1 or #2. I hope he declares, we get him at #2, and also get a veteran as you suggest and let him sit for some time. But again, I am no QB guru, but prospects like this I just don't think you pass up. Glenn will be gone in a year and we need to get a decent QB coach this year. But high end prospects like this are not available to you every year. We have to take a chance IMO, while also getting a young veteran to maximize the probability of longer term QB.
We’ll see how it plays out, but I don’t think we are the right team to take him. I have ZERO trust in AG and his staff. ZERO. If we take him, they will play him because they will be desperate. And we will ruin him. Like we did Darnold, who really needed to get out of here and spend time with real QB guru’s in both SF and Minn to actually blossom. I don’t think this team has the right coaches to develop him and to let him sit. It just won’t work here. Woody is the worst owner in pro sports…he always makes the wrong decisions. Always. Here is a year where your new coach had one of the worst seasons in our history, now there are some seriously good candidates out there, and we have a lot of high picks. Like for anyone with a brain, this couldn’t have lined up any better. Bite the bullet, fire AG, go get ANY of Stefanski, McCarthy, Harbaugh, Kubiak, and let’s go. But no. Woody is an imbecile, and we’ll end up having to fire Glenn somewhere between what, week 5 and week 9? Because we will suck that bad? You can see this shit coming a mile away. But back to the point, no, this is not the team or the staff to take Moore and develop him. Will. Not. Happen. Here. Book it
I loved Wilson, mainly the arm talent that fooled me. Arm talent is like the hot chick in high school that teases you but doesn’t put out. Moore and Wilson remind me a lot of one another and that PTSD has my guard up on these quick release arm talent QBs.
2027 is looking really deep at a bunch of different positions. My favourite receiver since Megatron is coming out as well
Anyone wanting Moore is just desperate to pick a QB so they can delude themselves into thinking the future is bright. He did absolutely nothing in college to warrant being drafted that high. Oregon played nobody all year except for IU and Texas Tech and was mediocre against IU the first time, and obliterated by them the second time and was shit against Texas Tech. And we are not talking about a kid playing on a talentless team against elite teams. Oregon has one of the most talented rosters in the P4. He’s a big kid with a quick release and a good agent. He was completely frozen by IU’s matchup zone, he is careless with the ball, and he isnt particularly fast either. You want to take a flyer on someone and let him sit for a year? Go get Chambliss who carried his team with half the coaching staff out and a significant talent disparity. He took the same team with no HC and half the staff working two jobs farther than Giants fans favorite future HOFer Jaxson Dart.
I think Sam is actually an excellent comparison. Excellent. Even that last game Sam lost by a lot to Ohio st, had a pick as well. Same age as well. I wonder what could have been if Sam actually had some supporting cast and protection. And Bowels didn't ruin Sam, it was really Gase that did it and JD finished him, that second wave that did him in. I don't think Glenn in 1 year will ruin Dante, especially if we get a veteran to start like we discussed. Now we got some OL protection and weapons too, maybe we will get a chance to rewrite history. Woody needs to stumble into someone good next year somehow. I know chances are small, but what else do we really have? We have to keep on trying.
