What are your thoughts on the firing and Sean in general? You think they would promote Brady and bring in a good DC to focus on improving that side of the ball while maintaining offensive continuity?
This guy called it lol, doubt he has the Gruden part right. https://x.com/i/status/2012712556603793659
Well, they are doubling down on Brandon Beane and promoting him to head of football operations. That is unquestionably hilarious.
ownership there is distracted and the Bills are not a top priority. This is them just handing off responsibilities
And who better to hand it off to than the guy who had the heaviest hand in underperforming the last five years?
Why would that be good for us? They are top 4 in offense every year without a good WR. If they can get a good DC to improve their defense from McDermott's one, while maintaining offensive structure, it would seem to go a long way. I certainly don't want that to happen.
they have Josh Allen. Of course statistically they are good. Any coach who takes the QB with the strongest arm in the league and calls a million screen passes is not good
I am a fan of change, we've tried the same thing over and over for too long. I thought it would be Beane that was fired, I am not a fan of his philosophies, decisions, and champion building. Initially, I didnt think there was a chance in hell they'd promote Brady because it seemed like they want the old way out. However, more and more is starting to come out about a power struggle between Beane and McDermott. I dont know if that's true, but if it is, and Beane is the winner and now team President, if he has an ego I could see him promoting Brady because he's someone who is a yes man instead of brining in someone from the outside who is a big name and do his own thing. We wont know anything for a long while about what's going on behind the scenes, it'll trickle out over the next year or so I imagine. I'm glad there will at least be an attempt at change, though. It shows they care about winning.
So we have to assume he’s better than Daboll in order to have a convo? I’m using the one and only bit of precedence along with some reality the same way people did when Daboll left and his whole resume was based around Josh Allen. And the point Nagle was making that I agreed with is any team with Josh Allen is going to statistically look great.
the bills offense was 2nd in scoring and 2nd in yardage with Ken Dorsey and they fired him. Brady isn’t good, he’s fortunate to have talent
Totally forgot about Dorsey who undoubtedly stinks. Joe Brady is living off the LSU years. He was shit in Carolina and the Buffalo offense has produced the same whether he was the QB coach in 2022 or the OC in 2026. But he can tie himself to the development of Allen, and thats where the Daboll comparisons come in. “Look what he did with Allen, imagine what he could do with Daniel Jones!” Meanwhile Jones wasn’t good until he got away from Daboll. Who knows maybe Brady will be good but his NFL resume has red flags all over it thus far.
But can he get us Burrow? Their time in LSU still comes up to this day, might be the fresh start Burrow needs.
1. The Brady rumor is totals BS 2. Trading a lot of draft capital for a highly-paid QB who will need to be paid again in two years when you have the worst roster in football is what a team like the Jets would do.
Have you guys forgotten Brady replaced Dorsey mid season and did significantly better? They turned the season around at that point. They did finish that season 2nd in points, but I believe it was better under Brady. Would be interesting to see points scored under Dorsey vs Brady, but I do recall they got a lot better that year. Agreed there are red flags, but I don't know if we can say he just isn't good. Watching him against the Jets, I thought schematically Brady and Coen did the best job against us. It was just too easy, Brady/Coen on offense vs Glenn on defense was not in the same stratosphere, even more so than against other opponents. And that includes early in the season before we completely imploded plus the second game when they were missing Allen and others. Also I thought in play-offs they left a lot of meat on the bone offensively and also were in position to win against the Eagles as well. Defense seems like a bigger problem for them. Anyway I would sign up for Brady for the Jets HC in spite of red flags, which I think pretty much every new head coach would have.
10 games under Dorsey: 26.2 ppg, 370 ypg 7 games under Brady: 27 ppg, 380 ypg Pass yards per game dropped by 20, rushing yards per game jumped by 30. Very minimal difference, definitely not “significant”. And like BN said… when you have Josh Allen throwing screens coupled with the best RB in the league, you’re gonna look brilliant as a coordinator that comes up with the gameplan. And when shit goes wrong they have Josh Allen to do things that maybe 2 other QBs in the league can do. Brady’s entire resume is built off coaching Burrow in college 6 years ago and coaching the MVP in the pros.
He did improve to 30.9 the following season when he was full time OC, second only to Ben Johnson, then 28.3 this season (4th), so definitely overall better than Dorsey, but I get your point about the red flags. He is also 36, there is some potential there to get better also. IMO I would give him a shot over Glenn, but it's definitely not happening this year. Maybe next year.
I just feel like there’s a pattern of Josh Allen guys not working out tbs we’re not following. Dorsey got fired, then hired by the Browns, then fired the next year. Daboll failed as a HC and QBs do better after they leave him (Daniel, Hurts at AL, technically Allen). Brady was passed up for HC jobs last year and flopped when he has an OC job prior to being with Allen. He’ll get another shot somewhere, Buffalo if they and he are smart, and he might work out. I’m just saying there’s precedent for Bills coaches to move on and flop. More than there is for them to move on and succeed.
