I voted favorable. For the letdown in 1993, if I remember correctly, Boomer played with strained neck the rest of the season - which greatly reduced his vision, since it pained him to just turn his head. I was just hoping Coslet would decide to bench Boomer for one week to see if his neck would get better. Well. Didn't happen. They ended up losing out.
I guess unfavorable. he came in and lit up early in '93 then faded down the stretch, in '94 he was part of the collpase and was a major culprit in the spike game. The talent around him was dwindling every year and he showed toughness but it's hard to have a favorable impression of a QB that never even led us to a playoff game.
This pretty much captures it. He tried. He wasn't a world beater on the field, but you are right, he definitely has a soft spot for the Jets.
That's actually a very valid point, but his overall body of work, as a Jet, is just nothing to get fired up over.
I remember people taking about one particular time in 2004 when Boomer was comparing Manning with Marino on the CBS pre-game show. Boomer stated that because the Colts had no defense that Manning unfortunately was going down the same path as Marino. Boomer made valid points and I didn't think he was trying to take a shot at Marino, he was actually defending him as to why he never won a ring. Marino didn't seem to take it that way though -if looks could kill........
Favorable. Names like Jack Trudeau, Browning Nagle, Glenn Foley....bleh. Boomer played well for us compared to all those guys. He wasn't our savior, but if he was billed to be then the expectations were probably to high to begin with.
my mom dated boomer ...or was at least friends with him, back in HS, she says he was a better baseball player then a QB
Favorable. I loved watching Boomer play. He ws one of my first favorite Jets back in my early years. And he's still a Jets fan this day after his Bengals.
