What's the latest on the Patrick Ramsey front? How do Jets fans feel about Ramsey? I haven't been on the board for a while so I haven't gotten a feel for fans' reaction to the rumors. I happen to think it may be a good idea. I think drafting a young quaterback could be real problem. Given that no one on the coaching staff has ever called an offensive play at the college or pro level, the young QB would be dependent on people as inexperienced as him. Ramsey has played under some pretty good offensive coaches and could bring some valued experience. Plus, I think the Jets would be far better served trading down and stockpiling picks. God, it would be really tempting though to pick Leinart if he were there. He would be the only one of the three QB's that I would take a chance on that high (Young is too risky and Cutler struggled for years in the SEC. I'm always skeptical of a guy I've never heard of until his senior year). As far as Matt chatham goes, take it from a Patriots fan, chatham is a very valuable special teams player but as far as I remember, I'm not certain he's ever played in the LB rotation.

They only want him for free. They don't want to give anything for him and prefer Kitna if that's the case.

I'd rather have Kitna as well. I hadn't heard that rumor. So who is the coveted target in Jets fans eyes? Is it Leinart? D'Brick? I personally think that AJ Hawk would be a great pick.

Why would you want Kitna instead?

no jets fans can agree.........we have plenty on the Brick Wagon, ALOT on the Cutler wagon.......and about an even split on Leinart/Young

alot of talk of AJ Hawk and Mario Williams as far as defense goes.

I myself would like to trade down, nab a RB and a late 1st round OL (if abe leaves anytime soon)

b/c ramsey is terrible...anyone benched for brunell has to be
kitna took the bengals to 8-8 and was replaced by carson palmer b/c of the #1 pick they invested...
.....and im on the d'brick bandwagon(an o-line 1st rd...grab mangold with the abe pick)

Well, I just think Ramsey has too much Bledsoe in him. By that I mean that he seems to freeze under the rush and an he morphs into a tackling dummy. Like Bledsoe, the guy has brass balls and isn't afraid to get hit, it's just that he seems incapable of buying a litle extra time in the pocket. Kitna has excelled at times and has plenty of experience. If I were a Jets fan, I would've liked to have seen Mangini hire a more experienced offensive coordinator and would really like to see them bring in a veteran coach to serve as QB coach if a young guy like Leinart or Cutler is chosen. I'm weary of Cutler just because I'm weary of guys who come out of nowhere towards the end of there college career. Plus, the guy really struggled at times against the SEC elite. I watched a guy like David Greene at Georgia really excel against the cream of the crop and he's never gotten a sniff at the pro level.

Ramsey may not be the answer, but I will tell you this neither is Kitna - I was in Seattle and watched his 1st 4yrs. The folks there could not wait for him to leave.....

true, but obviously if those 1st 4 years went differently he wouldnt have ended up in cincy
in cincy though he showed improvement and become a viable starting option(aka good backup)
the jets need a backup who can start
ramsey has never proven anything yet, and im not saying he never will, but we can get the same unproven talent in a rookie
all that aside...i would still want ramsey if we dont get kitna...i want as many qbs on out roster as possible...id hate to see us starting bollinger at some point again

I think Ramsey is more likely to be a solid QB for us than Bollinger.

Honestly out of all he FA QB's I want Josh McNown, he fell out of favor with Denny Green in AZ but I think he has more upside than Ramsey and if he proves he can play would be a better choice than Kitna simply based on age. I think a competition between McNown, Pennington, Bolly and a late round QB would be good. I'm not saying McNown is the answer but I like him better than Ramsey.

As far as the draft I really like AJ Hawk, I think him and Vilma would be unstoppable. Depending on what happens with J Abe I also like Vernon Davis, as I think he will be the big difference maker on O in this years draft. Personally If the Jets went D-Brick, traded Abe for a pick in the 20's and drafted Mangold and then went Booby Carpenter with the 2nd rounder I'd be ecstatic....
