I dont buy this three year plan stuff. I think it can get done in 1 or 2...Ive seen plenty teams do it
i teach at the high school that Joey Porter graduated from in Bakersfield, CA and am a huge Jets fan...since there is no team in the surrounding area, most of the staff and kids here are Steelers fans because of Porter...they are all freaking out over this, and me ribbing them that he'll make an awesome Jet is hillarious...i hope it comes true!
Ive seen a couple of teams do it but this team has to many holes at the point of attack on both sides of the ball. We aren't one or two players away from making a big jump forward we are 5 or 6.
Yea so dont you think that porter could fill 1 of the 5 or 6 holes?? He would fill it with flying colors but me personally I rather get Thomas but I wont lose sweat if we get neither but getting one of these guys could give us a nice boost vilma an another pro bowl caliber linebacker... Not bad....
It makes no sense that the Jets tried to trade for Porter. Don't you think they would have taken ANYTHING before they cut him? The only explanation for that would be that they are cutting him and signing him to a cheaper contract, but that seems to be out of the question
Rumor has it the Steelers front office decided to let Joey control where he goes as a class act for his loyal years of service. Joey was a cap casualty He thinks he is a top 5 LB in the league and wants top 5 LB money. He's not worth that much when the Steelers have other needs. Joey's play is still solid, but he's not an elite player anymore. He does however do his best to fire up his teammates and was a GREAT leader for this Steeler D during his tenure here. The Steelers have Troy Polamalu, Aaron Smith, Alan Faneca, and Big Ben's contracts on the horizon. Can't keep them all if we would have gotten locked into a big deal with Porter. I think the Steelers made the right move in the team's best interests, but that doesn't mean I'm not sad to see him go. If he ends up in a Jets uniform, I will be pulling for him (except when we play you guys) If you don't overpay for him..he can help you out
Short a Brady injury there's virtually no chance we take over next year regardless of what the Pats do. They're just a LOT more talented than the Jets right now. I'd love to see them sign a 30ish linebacker to shore things up for a season or two because in the meantime the Jets will be adding good young players and that's how you catch up to a dynasty. Name me one free agent signing that has ever turned number two into number one for more than a single season?
