Wasn't Starks tendered in the same way that Randall Gay & Wesley Walker were in which a team would only have to give up their 2nd round pick to sign the player away?

Anyway, no thanks. If the Jets are really interested in a OT then Marc Colombo or Jordan Black will be brought in shortly or they will look to the draft and the most likely option would be Justin Blalock at 25.

I can't comment on the player, but the principle seems sound. The Jets used a No.4 on an LT last season, then a No.29 on a center, so why not a No.25 on a right tackle? Assuming he is a good player, surely it makes sense.

The one downside (and again, I'm not commenting on Starks as a player because I just haven't seen enough of him) is that his contract would be way higher than that of a No.25 pick, so it would impact the cap negatively.

I like the basic idea though, of not clinging to low first-round draft picks like security blankets if a good player is available.

Its not smart. Max Starks was taken in the 3rd round a couple of years ago. He might be a very good offensive lineman but it just proves that good lineman could be found anywhere in the draft.

If the Jets biggest draft move is a tackle, all jets fans will simultaneously be bored to death.

A 1st rounder is equal to every other 1st rounder when signing RFA but other than in that one situation they are very different.

A top 5 compared to a #25 is huge, in money and value. A #25 is worth only 720 value points and #5 is worth 1700. You may think that the point value is stupid or it doesn't matter but that is so wrong. Every team uses the chart and every expects to be paided based on where they are drafted. It takes the #16 & #25 to equal the #5. Rememmber when we were stupid and traded up to draft Robertson?

You can pay all five of last players drafted in the 1st round (picks 28-32) for the price of one top five player drafted this year.

If you can get a proven starter at a vital position like OT or CB for any pick outside the top twenty you do it.

    Just venting.

The Jets spent the No.4 overall pick last year on a left tackle. Then they spent the No.29 on a center. Exactly why is it retarded for someone to suggest trading the No.25 pick for a right tackle?

In all fairness, Rothlesscock was over extending himself and tried to make plays and got sacked often.
    On another point,
it was the Gayders who truly had the worst O-Line both Running & Passing..
