Now more than before, I think we need to address the O-line first. With the Pats adding Thomas, we have to get big and solid up front. I have been sitting back and watching all the madness on here, but I will say this. Corey Dillon would be the best back to compliment Washington. With those two in our back field, we become pretty dangerous. Dillon is that HUGE back who can get tough yards and Washington can take it to the house from any where. Of course Dillon isnt the long term answer, but I like the now potential of these two. So, I think O-line, Dillon, and a pass rusher in the draft. Have faith, we arent the Redskins!
I believe we need to upgrade our OG position, with Pete not getting younger and Moore just being a pedestrian player. Grubbs or Beekman in Rd 2 would be a great fit.
i'd have no problem with the jets getting dillon, but they are also lookin at chris brown and tj duckett. i personally would rather have brown before dillon but either will do. i agree with ur Oline statement tho. w/ the pats addition of thomas (which really blows) the jets need a solid Oline. i would like to see Joey Porter in green and white next season since he's familiar with the 3-4 but i dont see Tangini goin after a big name like that.
I dont think Porter is out of the question. I think they are just laying low til he is ready to talk. We have the money, I really think that he would be a huge asset to our pass rush, and light a much needed fire under our D. I think Porter will be a huge success in our system in the New York spotlight, its a possibility. He knows that.
ya i know that he knows that, but the jets FO is all about getting the players that dont have the big names. they're all about depth and i think porter will ask for too much and the jets will just automatically say no right off the bat. i hope i'm wrong cuz porter would be, just like u sed, the perfect addition to our defense, but i just dont see it happening
Porter will probably be looking for Thomas money, maybe a little more, and thats do-able. No F-in way Clements money(most ridiculous thing I ever seen)
thomas money is a shit load of money... "But Thomas, who played for Belichick in the Pro Bowl last month, almost certainly will be one of the highest-paid players in free agency. Rated by ESPN.com as the No. 2 unrestricted player available, Thomas figures to land guarantees totaling at least $15 million. There is speculation the contract will average $10 million per year." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2786670 i know its do-able but Tangini doesnt go for that. the jets are probably gonna go after banta-cain, which is fine with me, cuz he's another solid player that wont be asking for as much as porter.
Banta Cain had one good game all year and it was against us. We saw it first hand, but he was invisible every other game.
re: Dillon. Hm, one year fill-in holding a spot for a certain player who will be an unrestricted FA next year? Hmmm
Turner, but I don't know why anyone would want Dillon if you watched him run this year he looked brutally slow and old. No question two years ago he was awesome but he's running back and we don't need a 30+ year old back at this point. We need lineman and young backs. As far as Porter is concerned last year he just wasn't generating a pass rush when he was actually blocked. He wasn't getting around people, when the scheme allowed him to come free he was causing problems. I think we are much better off just drafting players that we can develop and control for 5 years at reasonable prices.
