It seems like, in general, this board has forgotten we have a massive DT with promise on our roster right now.

Yes, he has been injured, yes he is 27, but I seem to remember lots of optimism last preseason about him, coming from the coaches and front office.

I think he can be a decent contributor this year, and with an additional DT, the Robertson move to DE could easily happen.

    Thoughts?

  2. It's certainly a possibility.

Even so we still need more depth on the DL. I wish the Giants hadnt signed Titus Adams, I liked what i saw of him in TC and the preseason and he just needed some time before beinga decent rotational guy.

I'm not sure how Pouha will work out but it would be great if he could turn into a solid contributer. The only thing is that we would have to take a chance by not signing a DT and hoping we have something with Pouha because we really won't know what we have until after TC

Let's not forget CJ Mosley..............he's going to be a solid player in the D-Line Rotation. Mosley needs sometime to develop, like most DTs.

I agree, but, we have at the worst a rotational guy this year that we didn't have in 2006. With Mosley, some old fat guy might work out, ala Ted Washington, and allow DRob to move to DE, which I think he could flourish at.

Pouha came into camp at 310. No bigger than Dwayne. We need a 350+ guy at this spot. There is a guy named Walter Thomas, he runs 6'4 370 an intreguing prospect that we could nab in the later rounds.

I have faith that either Robertson or Pouha can step up at NT. Robertson certainly has the size, especially if he adds 10 pounds and some more strength. With a year of the 3-4 position under his belt, I'm sure he'll improve.

Or, we can add Keith Traylor for a year... That guy can't move, but as long as he can free up space for Vilma to make plays, we're fine.

Not to be negative and all on a player. We have to look at this rational. Pouha was an older guy that was drafted as a project. He lost 2 years basically 1.) with the poor coaching staff in 05 and the injury in 06.

Now I am not saying he will not be a starter or a strong contributer, however looking at this from a distance I can not see him shoring up anything on our defense. It usually takes 2 years for a game breaking player to come back to his prior form after major knee surgery. Lord knows how long it will take Pouha to get over that hump if at all.

Basically, I would not count on Pouha too heavily and would be more than pleasantly surprised if he became anything more than a stop gap, ocassional rotatee to the D-line. I really hope I am wrong.

    Miamipuck,

You nailed it. The writing is on the wall for Pouha. Whatever production we get from him in 07' has to be viewed as a pleasant suprise.

I would think at this point his chances of making the team are slim to none. It's been two years for him of producing nothing on the field and injuries. The chance that he actually plays for us again is not good.

I hope he can be a solid NT in the rotation and come in and plug up gaps. I think we could leave Robertson at the NT he did a good job this year. Next year he will adjust better. Im hoping the Jets draft a 3-4 DE.
