Any possibility of getting Dominic Rhodes? I haven't heard much of any news on this? He would be the best bet out of the bunch.
There's only so many teams in the NFL in the market for a potential starter. It seems we're one of them, so I wouldn't discount the possibility.
it'll be interesting if we sign Harper (though I'd prefer Hood) because maybe that will entice Rhodes to follow. however, i must admit i'm leaning towards signing Duckett as i think he's the perfect compliment to Leon Washington. with an improved OL, those two and Houston could actually be pretty effective. not to mention Duckett will be cheaper. i think Rhodes will be overpaid because of his Superbowl performance -- the Larry Brown Effect. cheers
Also, would he be a good compliment to leon or just another small quick cut RB? Leon: 5'8 202lbs. DR:5'9 203lbs.
Taken from Andrew Gross: The only reason i can think the jets didn't meet with him is because mangini was at an awards ceremony in KC. But Rhodes also has some off field issues that might not rub Mangini the right way
If we've learned anything thus far, it's that we are not going to even look with interest at any free agent that is a mid-level to high talented player. It's gonna be all journeymen. Rhodes is just a notch of talent above what we'll consider.
I read somewhere on this site that the Jets were a little turned off on Rhodes because of his recent DWI. However, I really like the way Rhodes plays and he could be a pretty good addition to the team. He compliments Leon Washington well adn isn't as old and doesn't have the wear and tear that the other running backs we are looking at.
Why do you think he would compliment leon? Isn't he the same as leon, just a little bit better? Do we really need another small cut RB?
Actually that is really my bad. For some reason I thought Rhodes was a bigger back than he actually is.
