I was listening to him being interviewed on NFL Radio about being a member of the Bucs, and he mentioned that he was disappointed with not being a larger part of the running game because he ran a 4.46 and also was over 230LB but was only used as a straight ahead blocking FB.

He thinks that he will be given a chance to carry the ball more with Tampa, and is happy to be reunited with Hackett, who he said likes him and will use him more than Schotty and Eric.

If this 4.46 thing is true, I wish we could have seen him a little more in the 2006 season. Anyone rememebr seeing him in Training Camp or in the preseason?

Are you sure he didn't mean 4.46 in the 20?

Going on what we know from last year's draft, I think it is safe to say that we would have done well with the 37th pick and could have gotten a player that would contribute this season. However, at the positions of need, I don't think we'd have gotten soemone that will contribute the same way Jones will this season. It would have made draft day a little more exciting though, but whatever, I am glad to have Jones.

With the Jets in desparate need for another running back, does anyone think that with Tangini watching Askew practice evryday for 6 months that they "wouldn't give him a chance"

He ran a 4.6 according to the Jet's timing. (according to the official website)
He says he ran 4.4, and is aiming for 4.3 this training camp.
"`I'm shooting for a 4.3 in workouts, so we'll see,'' Askew said. ``Trust me, I can do it. I'm going to go out there and showcase myself, sort of like the combine.''

If that was the case my point would be that he's the fastest player ever to play in the NFL.

Honestly, he was kind of "invisible" in TC the last couple of years. I think there may be more to the release of Askew than meets the eye. It could be a mental preparation thing or some other inability or obstacle, but I highly doubt our FO and CS would have let him go without having a good reason.
